A warm cup of atole and a piece of pan de mu**to make a comforting autumn pair. What's better than sharing something sweet, holding a warm mug, and remembering the people we love? 🌼A warm cup of guava atole and a piece of pan de mu**to make a lovely autumn pairing. 🌼☕❤️
Atole de Guayaba
Makes about 6 servings
You’ll need:
1 lb. ripe guavas, quartered
4 cups milk
4 tablespoons masa harina
½ cup brown sugar or piloncillo, to taste
1 cinnamon stick
2½ cups water, divided
¼ teaspoon baking soda
To make it: Simmer the guavas with the cinnamon, sugar, and 1½ cups water until tender, about 15 minutes. Let cool slightly, blend, and strain out the seeds. Stir the baking soda into the guava purée, then add the milk and warm gently. In a separate cup, whisk the masa harina with the remaining 1 cup water until smooth. Slowly stir it into the pot and cook, stirring often, until the atole thickens, about 15 minutes.
Serve warm with pan de mu**to. If you make it, tell us: Would you enjoy your atole with guava or cinnamon?
