Armyworms seem to have taken over yards all across the South. Media from Kentucky to Oklahoma to Alabama have reported that the insects are invading lawns across the region. And it's been a pretty big year for the pests. Jonathan Larson, an entomologist with the University of Kentucky, recently told...

It’s no secret that the past few years have been disastrous for the American farming industry. Freak weather, oversupply, trade wars, pesticide damage—it’s been a perfect storm, on top of all the regular storms, for American farmers. The American Farm Bureau Federation, commonly just called th...

Between my God, my praying friends, and my Uncle Johnny we have our miracle!!

Fields looking good and DRY. We need one more day like today!! PTL!!

We surveyed the damage this morning and it’s not good. Definitely not horse quality. Lots of ground is still in standing water. The rain gauge indicated 3 plus inches but I can’t remember if I dumped it since the last storm. From other reports from friends with rain gauges 3 inches seems about right. With the current forecast, Unless God performs a miracle, it may not even make mulch hay.

Thank you Guys for the kind words and support. It is really appreciated.

To all my loyal customers,

Today has been a trying day. After months of trying to avoid rain and other things we had a window of pretty weather; or at least we thought we did. We cut our hay last night. At about 12:30 midnight we finished cutting and hoped to bale Friday or Saturday morning.
At about 3:00 Kelly called me and informed me that it had begun to rain so hard that the field was flooded.
I value all my customers and in an effort to keep you guys out of a bind for hay this fall I wanted to let you know ASAP.
I still hope to get a cutting in about six weeks but the hay that is on the ground right now is no good and I don’t want you guys running into the fall and not have hay for your animals.
I hate that it worked out this way but it is a very true statement that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, Blessed be the name of the Lord.
I will do my best to call everyone personally in the next few days.
God Bless

Fall armyworms are making their presence known in Alabama. Mild winter conditions and warm spring temperatures made for early emergence of fall armyworms.

I wanted to let everyone know that it looks like we will not be cutting hay this week because of the weather patterns.
We are extremely grateful to God for the rain but it makes it tough to cut and bale.
As of this mornings forecast, next week doesn’t look a lot better.
We will update everyone when we see a break in the weather!!
