As many of you know, this season I made the difficult decision to stop doing bouquet cards/subscriptions and to grow a lot less flowers. With four very busy children, I found that the stress of trying to keep up with everything that comes with growing and selling a lot of flowers just didn't make sense for our busy family.

I had hoped to have more flowers this season than I actually do, but I had a few unlucky things happen (1 - A new soil mix when I was starting seedlings in February/March led to terrible germination/failure for most seeds. 2 - Attempt #2 at seeding in new soil worked, but as I was hardening off baby plants on a rack outside, a storm came through when I was running kids to an activity. The rack blew over while I was gone and nearly all of those seedlings were ruined. 😭 3 - The sunflowers and glass gem corn that I planted were almost all washed away by one of our flash flood type rainstorms.

It's been rocky, but it's also given me the opportunity to see that I really miss having the typical variety of flowers available. While there may be a lot less this season, I have come up with a plan for next season. Having less now gives me the time to prepare beds and landscape fabric to be ready to plant into this fall & next spring. Also, I don't want to jinx it by saying something before it's complete, but there is something big coming this fall! I can't wait to share the news! Stay tuned! 🌱

The queen of the peonies, Etched Salmon, popped while I was at my girls' dance recital!

Thankfully, I got them cut and into the cooler quickly! I I have 15 stems available to share this year (I took 5 to adore in the house!). Don't worry, I pressed send on the email to order 20 more roots to plant this fall!
