Good morning, as everyone who knows me knows i am a volunteer at the lakes community garden. this garden was started 14 years ago and continues today much larger than the beginning and it continues to grow, now are you ready for amazing numbers? Rich did the research of the total harvest from day one and then based on today's cost came up with the total cost for amount produced. here are those numbers. (long but worth it)

Broccoli 268 bushel. - Cabbage 5111 heads - Kale 154 bushel - Kohlrabi 65 Bushel - Sweet peppers 245 bushel - Sweet corn 2699 dozen -Beans 536 Bushel - Hot peppers 133 Bushel - Tomatoes 1096 Bushel - Zucchini 9110 - yellow squash 8544 - onions 281 Bushel - Cucumbers 389 Bushel - Greens 98 Bushel - Cantaloupe 2005 -

now there is a chart to convert this into todays cost and Rich did just that and we produced and saved the community $311,414.00 yes you cant believe it and we found it amazing as well . Three hundred thousand dollars produced and giving away free to anyone wanting or needing it.

Again, i want to thank every volunteer who make this possible we are so very thankful and proud of you.

corn stalks sales are going well, we still have a bunch so if you need them for decorations please pay us a visit . tell all your friends about them as well.

just had a "THANK YOU BEAKFAST " for all the volunteers who make the community garden what it is, these people are awesome. First time at village dinner but will not be our last. great service and food. again THANK YOU to all volunteers.

someone made a suggestion that people who bought our corn stalks send a picture of your decorations so we can post it. anyone interested?

this is just to show you the size of our corn bundles, they are still only $5 per bundle and we also have some indian corn to use as decorations and it is only $1 per ear. At the lakes community garden site corner of Mill Iron and Evanston ave (self serve with a cash box.

some of our corn stalks are huge , some 10 foot tall. this is the only thing we sell and this is our start up fund in spring. if your going to decorate please keep us in mind

we will be putting out our corn stalks for sale this afternoon, they are still $5 per bundle (large) . we will also have some Indian corn ears for sale at $1 each. this is used for a start-up fund this coming spring. so, if your into decorating for Halloween come help us out. we thank you in advance
