History has been made here at Rock Hill Ranch. After 7 straight bull calves, Becky, our OG, our oldest cow had her first heifer! I was convinced that there was something in her DNA that she only made bulls, but I guess not. On top of that, we had held everyone off for fall calves, but somewhere in the mix the magic happened, so this was an unexpected calf. But we’ll gladly take her!

We finished up our 2025 calves earlier this week with this beautiful black heifer. As far as highland cows go, black is my favorite color. I’ll choose yellow though when it comes to bulls, and she comes from an amazing black cow and yellow bull combination. We are excited to watch this fall group. There are some eye catchers coming your way. If you happen to have a favorite highland color, we’d love to hear it in the comments.

Howdy friends! We’ve decided to throw out a couple Black Friday deals. We are knocking off 5xx each offering if purchased this weekend!

Rock Hill Nino: We are offering up a beautiful 7 month old dun bull who has been in the weaning pen. He is stocky with great feet and a masculine head. Both of his parents are fantastic examples of the breed. Sending hair off next week but he will be AHCA registered with some fine progeny represented. I promise you, he is nice! We ✂️ around here.

Bill: A 2 yo red steer. He is gentle, smaller framed from AHCA parents. He has only been on grass.

Carter: A 1yo black steer. He is gentle, smaller framed from AHCA parents. He has only been on grass.

It is time for some new genetics in the fold so we are offering up our long time herd sire, AAA Duncan III of LEA Faye. He brings great progeny, structure, feet, and docility to the table. We have had him several years now and he is an easy keeper and pleasure. I have references from those who have leased him in the past that can speak on his behalf. This little heifer is so funny. She is the first calf we’ve had that just never went through the spooked by people stage. She comes cruising up to ya in the pasture for some scratches. If I holler at her, she moseys over. She is now working on her grappling skills and tried to sneak attack me tonight 😂
