Oh, what a fantastic morning filled with fun and learning!

We started the day with Storytime, where we learned all about bugs and why they are so important for helping plants grow. For our craft, the children colored bug-themed sheets and created adorable bumble bees out of construction paper. 🐝

Then, we transitioned into our Wellness Wednesdays program, hosted by our friends at Green Country Behavioral Health Services, the Muskogee County Health Department, and OSU Extension/Farmers Market. Today, the children planted herb seeds and decorated their very own pots with stickers. 🌱

Once they finished, families received veggie bucks and were invited to visit the Muskogee Farmers' Market to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables to try at home. What a wonderful way to encourage healthy habits and hands-on learning!

Next week will be our third session of the month, and we’ll be focusing on yoga and ways to keep our bodies healthy and strong. We would love to see you there!

Plan to beat the heat by getting to the market early, vendors will have their best set up from 8:00am to 12noon today at the Muskogee Civic Center.

Today is the third Saturday in August and it coincides with World Honey Bee Day, a day dedicated to celebrating pollinators, planting nectar-rich flowers and highlights the crucial role these pollinators play in our food supply and environment.

Honey bees pollinate roughly one-third of the human diet, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

Wednesday was filled with fruity fun at the library! πŸŽπŸŒπŸ“

We kicked off the morning with Storytime, where we enjoyed books like Counting to Bananas, sang "I Like to Eat Apples and Bananas," and created colorful watercolor paintings of our favorite fruits.

The fun continued as Green Country Behavioral Health and the Health Department joined us for Wellness Wednesday, sharing healthy eating tips and treating families to delicious, nutritious smoothies.

Thanks to support from OSU Extension and the Muskogee Farmers Market, families also received vouchers to shop at the Farmers Market. The children had a wonderful time helping choose fresh, healthy foods to take home and enjoy together.

The fun isn't over! Join us again next Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. for Storytime and Wellness Wednesday. Our next adventure will feature planting herbs, and we can't wait to see you there!
