Yes! I have a whole bunch of pretty eggs going into the incubator! And....I didn't think I had trust issues, but clearly I do! How many of you trust your incubator for the correct temp? How many extra thermometer/hydrometers do you add? Do you actually trust them?

And it has begun! My house looks ready for someone to be murdered with easy clean-up. Or maybe just ready for easy clean...

Sometimes you need a man's help with cleaning the chicken coop. Mowgli is great help with trimming the grass in the chicken area. He decided he needed to come in with the goats. The other horses are a little jealous.

Swarms.... will they move on? Yes! They usually do move on in a day or two. But, when they do, they pick their own home. It may be your home. In a chimney. Maybe a vent? Porch or siding that has a hole? They get very creative! If they start to set up camp in a space like this, it usually requires a cut-out to remove the honey bees and comb. If not, another colony could move in, or it could attract mice. Cut-outs can be spendy. If you have a honeybee swarm, feel free to message me or call me. We will come grab those free of charge and give you a bottle of honey. 208-713-6470. If, the bees have made your home their home, we also do cut-outs! We do charge for our time on those. They get a lot more involved depending on the situation.

These girls are looking amazing! And producing amazing! I can't take all the credit. I have to give a huge shout out to Dianne Gohmann-Ekstrom for her amazing chicken feed!

I had heard great things about her feed but, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first started using it. I’ve always been a “feed is feed” kind of person. But wow… my chickens had other plans.

Since switching over, my silkies and olive eggers have been thriving. Not only are they all obsessed with the feed — like, excited-fluffball-running levels of enthusiasm — but I’m also seeing more eggs than I ever did with their previous (and supposedly high-quality) feed.

I didn’t expect a feed to make this much of a difference, but it really has. Even my chicks are doing amazing on it. Happy, healthy, and acting like tiny feathered divas.

So thank you, Dianne, for putting so much care into what you do. The flock and I appreciate you more than you know!

We are excited to announce we are expanding our silkie flock. We are planning to have several color specific pens including Paint, Buff, Red Ply, Partridge and then probably an assorted pen. We have ordered in eggs from New York, Alabama and Washington to help kick things off! Located in Nampa!
