Harvest hasn’t officially started at Roots Run Deep. Unless you ask our w**emaker, Macario Montoya.

Right now, our w**emaker’s days are spent bouncing between vineyards, collecting samples, tasting berries and watching the 2026 vintage get closer to the finish line.

Deciding when to pick has never come down to a single number on a page. It’s knowing how all those little clues, the brix, acidity and tannins, fit together. And knowing the vineyard well enough to listen when it tells you it’s ready.

Part science, part experience and, quite literally, an Educated Guess.
