A boutique producer of premium Cabernet Sauvignon wines and Cabernet Blends since 1994 -- Celebrating almost 30 years in the Coombsville AVA

We are a small producer of premium cabernet sauvignon wines within the new AVA of Coombsville, located in the southeastern section of Napa Valley. Known for its cooler climates, rich, volcanic soils and hilly terrain, the Coombsville section of Napa has long produced wines (since 1930's) with deep berry flavors, typically lower alcohols and the ability to have long staying power in the bottle when

cellared. Here at Ackerman Family Vineyards, we have been producing 100% cabernet wines since we first purchased our 16 acre vineyard in 1994. We spent the first twelve years refining, improving and carefully managing our vines to produce a wine that best represented what this unique area could produce. Opening up the trellis system to provide more sunlight to the clusters, planting legumes and poppies for soil nutrition, providing hawk boxes for rodent control and not using pesticides or fertilizers over time garnered us the title of becoming a certified organic vineyard (CCOF) -- something we are very proud of. These farming practices translate into a wine with robust berry, chocolate, leather, and a hint of spice flavors. Because of the usual long "hang time" before harvest (we typically harvest between the end of September and the end of October), our grapes have a chance to mature slowly, keeping alcohol levels low -- historically between 13.2 and 14.5%. We hold our wines back a total of four years -- two years in the barrel and two years in the bottle -- before we release our latest vintage each October. And because we like wines that age well, we are still enjoying our earliest wines from the mid-1990's -- 10 or more years just makes them even more flavor-infused. As a family-run producer of handcrafted wines, we are proud to be part of ongoing story of artisanal wines produced in the Napa Valley.
