Franklin D. Roosevelt famously noted that true capability is born from adversity. The same can be said for the world’s finest vineyards.
The 2022 growing season in the Spring Mountain District was one of the most dramatic on record. Nature tested our vines at every turn: a third consecutive year of deep drought, sudden spring rains that heavily reduced our crop loads during bloom, and a historic late-summer heatwave that pushed the valley floor to its limits.
But high above the valley floor, between 400 and 2,600 feet, our mountain vineyards stood resilient.
Cooled by marine winds and blessed with well-drained volcanic soils, these vines didn’t just survive the heat—they excelled. The extreme climate produced a “shy-bearing,” low-volume crop that resulted in an astonishingly concentrated, rich fruit extraction.
Extended for 30 months in French oak barrels, the freshly released Levendi 2022 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is proof of that triumph. It pours an opaque, deep purple and opens with stunning aromas of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate, and subtle mountain herbal notes. On the palate, it is beautifully structured, balancing firm acidity with refined, chalky mountain tannins.
A wine forged by the elements, built to be aged, and crafted for those who appreciate the beauty of resilience.
With only 419 cases produced, this limited-allocation mountain masterpiece will not last long.
