Mercadito Food Truck was founded by two people who's goal is to provide healthy, organic, and farm fresh food at a reasonable price for the public. We offer a wide variety of healthy options for the public to enjoy. With our diverse menu, we share recipes that are not only fusion foods, but traditional dishes from Mexico City which are cooked with ingredients that do not include saturated, trans or, mono saturated fats. We strive to provide fresh local, organic and farm raised food. Our motto is simple, we cook food for you based on what we love to do! Great food for everyone. Tomorrow (Friday 2/13) is our final day of daily service as we shift our focus to Catering, Farmers Markets, and new Pre-Order Model.

The New River Studio:

📅 Rotating Pre-Order Menu will be something like the beloved Dinner Deals we offered in the past (Small bite + Salad + Main + Sweet)

FUN HISTORY

The Rosca de Reyes began in Ancient Rome during the winter festival of Saturnalia. Roman bakers hid a fava bean in honey cakes; the finder became "King for a Day" to honor Saturn, the god of agriculture.

In the Middle Ages, France adapted this into the Galette des Rois.
By the 1700s, King Louis XV’s chefs replaced the bean with gold medallions or porcelain figurines for the court.
Spain later transformed the recipe into a bready Roscón, with monks linking its crown shape to the Three Wise Men of the Epiphany.

In the 1500s, the tradition reached Mexico. Local bakers added the signature "co**ha" sugar crust and candied cactus (acitrón)
They also tied finding the "Baby Jesus" figurine to the responsibility of HOSTING A TAMALES PARTY on Feb 2nd

🚨 HOLIDAY BAKE | RIVER STUDIO

I hope everyone is having a great week.

✨ I want to share the Christmas Bake we are having.
You can preorder anything before the 22nd of December and the PICK UP DATE IS ON DECEMBER 24th between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the River Studio (101 South Coombs St. Y4, Napa )

Thinking of something sweet for dinner? try our cinnamon rolls... not saying they are the best (who would say that about their own baking 😁), but they are delicious!

All bread and pastries are made using organic flour.

The epi baguettes and bolillos are made with 100% Yecora Rojo (whole wheat) which is a type of wheat that was developed in Mexico back in the 70's, but first introduced by bakers in the US before anyone else. 🌾
