‼️🌽The bad news: We will run out of sweet corn at both farmstands sometime today. If your heart desires our corn, head over earlier rather than later in the day.

🌽Due to high winds from recent storms, some of our corn went down. Our corn picking machine can’t handle severely twisted cornstalks. Last week we were hand-picking (!!!) as much as we could but we did lose some yield. We did pretty good to keep up with demand.

That was last week’s issue.

We always plant sweet corn starting in April and continue staggering the planting until mid-July. That way, we usually have corn from July to early October. Usually.

😢This week’s issue: Because June was too wet for too long, we couldn’t plant corn for a brief period of time then. We’ve finally reached that void in the cornfield. We will be without corn from today to probably at least Sunday or so. We hope it’s not too long.

🥰THE GOOD NEWS: We still have LOTS of corn to ripen and sell. It’s just a matter of time. Hang in there and wait this out with us. Once we’re back on track, we should have corn until early October. Thanks in advance for your patience!

🍎Our OSWEGO APPLE ORCHARD is open for U-pick apple picking. Ginger Gold, Early Gala and McIntosh have stepped up to the plate for our first picking varieties. Last entry to the orchard is 30 minutes prior to closing. Prepicked apples are available at both farmstands.

🌪️It’s a little jarring when you hear, “Rotation spotted in Oswego near Keller’s Farmstand” on the Illinois Storm Chasers broadcast. Our brother-in-law heard it while at work. 😳

⛈️Thank you to those who reached out to us to see if we were ok after yesterday’s storm! We were lucky with only heavy rain and wind. The first thing the guys check after a storm are the larger crops. Sweet corn wasn’t leaning too bad and not too many downed apples were on the ground in the orchard this time. We heard our surrounding areas were hit much harder though.

I didn’t get any photos of the storm, sorry. We had to evacuate the Oswego Farmstand (and Naperville Farmstand) and seek shelter after getting tornado alerts on our phones. These photos were taken hours later.

‼️If you’re not from the Midwest, you might not know the feeling when you see a greenish sky, feel the wind pick up rapidly and hear a Tornado Warning/Watch alert sounding on your phone. It’s scary and you move fast.

We’re getting tired of these violent storms popping up. We’ve had A LOT this summer. Spring storms and low April/May temps were no picnic either. Not much we can do but roll with it. For farming, the weather is everything.

🌽That’s OUR corn in their Roasted Corn Salad!!

Thanks for your support over the years, Little Pops NY Pizzeria Trattoria Lisle! We can’t wait to try the corn salad! The pizza is amazing! 🍕😋

We know this is gonna sound a little 'corny' but we can't help but get a little misty-eyed about the nostalgic history behind this amazing little salad.

Many years ago when we were only one location, Kellers Farmstand was just around the corner. We fell in love with their fresh sweet corn which is only available this time of year.

We wanted to incorporate Kellers fresh seasonal sweet corn into a special menu item hoping to offer a little Summer heat relief. Our Roasted Corn Salad was born and it quickly became an instant neighborhood sensation.

Four Little Pops Neighborhood locations later, we continue the tradition every August by offering the same Kellers Farmstand Roasted Corn Salad inside our Little Pops Lisle Neighborhood (only) and invite you to drop by for a true taste of Little Pops history!

The 12-acre corn maze, which is part of our Oswego Saturday & Sunday Fall Festivities, will be open September 12 - October 25. Details about tickets will be coming up.
