We learned last night that, effectively immediately, Lennon’s has closed. Which means that all future Funny Fridays shows are cancelled, because it is apparently “against the law” to run a show in a closed business, though we think that sounds punk as hell.
For over a year, we brought some of our favorite comedians into Lennon’s and made shows we were proud of. And Naperville came out to support- we sold out 17 of our 19 shows. We are, truly, bummed that we will not be able to grow this show further for what was always a supportive and receptive audience.
Much praise to the staff of Lennon’s, who allowed us to create a comedy club atmosphere. Our deepest appreciation to all the comedians who did the show- you all were a big part of why the shows were always full. And an enormous thanks to every person who came to see a show; thank you for trusting us with your Friday nights.
We will keep this page live and somewhat active in case we pop up again somewhere in Naperville. We hope that, if we do, you will continue your patronage. We were Naperville’s only regular standup showcase (and the only show with Kevin Federline’s “Popozao” in our preshow playlist)- we hope to return for you.
Finally, this show reminded us of a very valuable lesson- if you produce a show with friends you love and respect and book comedians you find talented, you will be successful. Thank you, Naperville, for proving us right for a year.
