The raspberry patch is ready to rock! I prune back to 4-6 canes per foot for summer raspberries ( they fruit on last year's growth) this guarantees me a decent yield because pest and disease pressure are much lower in the summer. My red raspberry variety is a summer bearer and had very good yields last year off of 1-2 canes per foot( just getting established) so its gonna be epic this year.
I reuse the straw from my strawberries to mulch the pathways and this year I gave them a very healthy dose of vermigreen compost to really make them pop off. Very excited to share these with my csa members!!!!

Some pics of last year's strawberry season. It was amazing! Big learning curve on growing soft fruit, much more finicky than veg!! The first year my strawberries fruited (2 yrs ago) I came down with lymes disease right at the end of May and lacked the physical and mental energy to keep up with them. It was such a bummer. Now that im kinda back to normal and have more experience with them they've become very fun to grow. But there is a lot of labor involved! Especially on this plasticulture system- each plant is individually planted and trimmed throughout the season. But this system keeps the berries clean, weeds down, and slug damage to a minimum so it is worth it i feel. And dont worry, this plastic will be reused for many years to come! Strawberries are such a positive force in this world, the joy they bring to people is so noticeable it is literally magic!!!

OK I need to start posting on here lol
This is a progression from seed starting to harvest last year, the soil health is improving beautifully due to no till methods and the veggies are reflecting that.
Looking forward to a great season this year!

I've expanded the csa and there are plenty of spots available! A CSA share is a prepaid subscription to scrumptious veggies for the whole growing season :) I take pride in providing very high quality, fresh, organic vegetables to members and throwing some perks in like jars of pickles! It is a free choice csa so you can choose exactly what you like each week and there will always be new things to choose from. I am selling half shares for 350$ and that is 4 items per week for 20 weeks, and full shares for 500$ - 7 items/ week for 20 weeks. Both shares include a 100 $ value in upick strawberries, raspberries, and peas. I am asking folks who plan on joining the csa to send payment soon if possible as I have alot of supplies to buy yet and don't want to get caught on the wrong side of the supply chain. Send me a message for my address to send a check if you are interested! And I've decided to throw in a fall decoration bundle for members as well!!
