I’m a HUGE fan of pizza, particularly good New York style pizza. I had read about San Giuseppe Pizza and decided to give it a try. Tucked in an obscure strip mall near the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Airport-Pulling Road you’ll find San Giuseppe which has fantastic New York style pizza. Owner Mike comes from a family of pizza artists and his pizza did not disappoint. The restaurant is small with five or six tables for seating plus a small counter space. Delivery is available within a few mile radius of the restaurant. 2400 Vanderbilt Beach Rd, #104.

This is one of the toughest columns to write each year because documenting local restaurants that close usually represents a serious financial and personal loss for someone. Because every restaurant also is somebody’s favorite dining spot, it’s usually a disappointment for diners, too.

One of our favorite breakfast spots in Naples is Blueberry’s Cafe on US 41. Blueberry’s is not fancy, just good food served consistently well. Usually we have their namesake blueberry pancakes with blueberries in the batter and served with warm blueberry compote. This trip we opted for the Breakfast Burrito and Ham and Cheese Omelette. The menu is extensive and they are also open for lunch.
