Right now, we're still in limbo. Quay County has declared the Line Fire a disaster, and the New Mexico FSA office has done the same. Now we wait on the National FSA office and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.

We're hopeful, but with major wildfire losses across Texas and Nebraska, there is concern that available funding may be stretched thin. A state disaster declaration would help open the door to additional federal assistance, but that is looking unlikely.

In the meantime, ranchers are doing what ranchers do—we keep moving forward. As thankful as we are for the recent rains, they also serve as a reminder that the clock is ticking. Before the country greens up and weeds take over without a little grazing, we still have over 150 miles of fence to replace.

We'll keep doing our part and praying for a path forward.

🔥 LINE FIRE | DAY 3 🔥

After getting the cattle off the burned pasture, we spent the next day mass treating cows and calves for smoke inhalation, burned eyes, and damaged udders.

Huge thanks to Dr. Atha at Twist Junction Veterinary Services for his expertise and for helping coordinate donated Draxxin from Zoetis.

Also, a huge thank you to Bradley Supply in Logan for quickly knowing exactly what we would need and sending additional supplies.

We had two crews rocking and rolling. One crew processed cattle while the other gathered and returned cattle to their pastures.

We are beyond thankful for the people helping us fight for these cattle every step of the way. 🙏

Some days the prairie feels endless — full of life and blessings. Then, in minutes, everything changes.

The Line Fire took grass, fences, and years of hard work, but it did not take our faith, grit, or community.

We’re thankful for every cow found, every neighbor who showed up, every firefighter who fought, and every prayer lifted.

The scars will remain, but so will the strength to rebuild.

“What God giveth, God taketh away.”
And through it all, He still provides.

There was not a more beautiful sight than these white faces coming out of the ashes. We still aren’t sure how they came out untouched. Their entire pasture was ravaged by fire within minutes.

They knew the sound of the siren meant help was coming. Tonya Orr-Perez managed to get them penned right at dusk — otherwise, with the fences gone, they could have roamed for miles. It was a hope and a prayer they were safe in the pen as we moved of to the next pasture.

We are beyond thankful this set of young females will get to carry the New Mexico Lady bloodlines into the future❤️🔥

They knew the familiar sound of the siren and followed us to safety as any remaining grass burned off throughout the night. It was a hope and a prayer that they would be safe in the pen while we moved on to the next pasture.
