New brewer, who dis?
That’s right y’all, there’s a new sheriff in fermentation town. We are super excited to be welcoming JP Murphy to the team as our new head brewer!
If you’ve been around the beer and food scene in Nashville for any amount of time, there’s a good chance you’ve seen him around or at least consumed something of his creation. JP is a Nashville native, who grew up just south of town in Brentwood. Before launching into beer, he spent the beginning of his career working in some of the highest level kitchens around the world, including in France and NYC.
After moving back to Nashville, he got his start in brewing at Mayday brewing, then moved on to brew at Fat Bottom, before making the jump to Black Abbey, and then ultimately landing back at Fat Bottom. In between those stints, you may have also tried some of his amazing food at Various Artist or Bearded Iris from the amazing concept he owned and operated Cabin Attic Burgers. Yes, this guy can do it all…
When he’s not in the brewery, you’re most likely to find him out on Center Hill Lake fishing for bass and trout. He’s an avid reader, and is currently immersed in the wild world of Dungeon Crawler Carl (if you haven’t read these, now is the time!). In college, JP studied anthropology, and was a part of archaeological digs in Greece. And to top it all off, JP is an advanced open water diver and enjoys scuba diving around the world, because of course he is. When we say this guy can do it all, we mean it.
But best of all he is a genuinely kind, warm, and fun dude. We are so excited to have him as a part of the Fait la Force family! The next time you are in, be sure to say hey and let him know which of our beers you are most excited for him to brew for you!
