The roots of what is now known as Loma Linda vegetarian canned products were planted over a century ago in 1890, when Dr. John H. Kellogg started the Battle Creek Sanitarium Food Company (BCSFC). America’s first meat analog product, Nuttose, was born in 1896. It was a peanut based cutlet that could be flavored to taste like beef, chicken, veal and salmon. In September 2014, (ANF) announced the acq

uisition of the iconic Loma LindaTM brand of canned shelf stable alternative meat analog products. At the same time, ANF also licensed the Worthington Foods brand of canned shelf stable alternative meat analog products. The Worthington Foods brand will transition to the Loma Linda brand over the coming year. As part of this acquisition, ANF also purchased the Kaffree RomaTM brand, a popular alternative coffee beverage. Today’s Loma Linda brand has a long, rich history of providing important vegetable based proteins to health-conscious consumers, particularly among the Seventh Day Adventist community.
