As wildlife populations continue to disappear due to deforestation, unchecked development, habitat fragmentation, and the widespread use of herbicides and pesticides, places like the Nashville Zoo have become some of the last remaining opportunities for future generations to connect with animals and ecosystems that once thrived across our landscape.
Now, a proposed data center is being planned next to the Nashville Zoo, and the Zoo itself has publicly stated that it is "vehemently opposed" to the project due to concerns about its impact on the property, animals, and surrounding community.
Zoos are more than attractions. They are centers for conservation, education, species preservation, and inspiring future generations to care about the natural world. When so much of our native habitat has already been sacrificed to development, we should be protecting the spaces that remain dedicated to wildlife—not surrounding them with more industrial infrastructure.
If you live in the Nashville area, now is the time to speak up. Future generations deserve the chance to experience living wildlife, learn about conservation, and understand the ecological systems that once existed in abundance across this country.
Please help save the Nashville Zoo.
