LADY WHISTLEPIG’S SOCIETY PAPERS
Update #3: The Bridgerton Litter Arrival
Dearest Gentle Readers,
Ready your fans and prepare to swoon.
After a confinement most eventful for Lady Georgina, and a start to life that would test even the stoutest of constitutions, this author is DELIGHTED to present to the ton the seven newest members of fashionable society:
Lord Anthony, Master Benedict, Miss Sophie, Miss Daphne, Miss Penelope, Miss Hyacinth, and Miss Francesca.
These siblings have had a more dramatic entrance than any ballroom scandal. What they lacked in easy beginnings, they have repaid tenfold in sheer determination. Hand-reared with devotion by their loyal attendants, they have emerged from the farrowing barn not merely surviving, but thriving.
Permit this author to make introductions, for their characters and their wardrobes are already most distinct:
Lord Anthony, AKKPS # 65979, a high white belted tri color, has appointed himself Duke of the Milk Pan and will not be deposed.
Lord Benedict, AKKPS # 65978, a handsome belted ginger, is the artist of the group, preferring to paint with milk upon his siblings.
Miss Sophie, AKKPS # 65982, a belted tri color, is already too clever by half and suspected of plotting.
Miss Daphne, AKKPS # 65984, a tri color, is the diamond of this season — all grace, unless the pan is late.
Miss Penelope, AKKPS # 68985, also a tri color, watches everything, misses nothing, and this author suspects she will author her own papers someday.
Miss Hyacinth, AKKPS # 65983, another striking tri color, has declared herself the main character and communicates exclusively in squeals.
Miss Francesca, AKKPS # 65981, a belted tri color, is the quiet storm... unassuming, yet utterly captivating.
It should be noted that every piglet in this litter was born blessed with a most fashionable pair of wattles, as is proper for distinguished society. However, Miss Sophie has had a rather eventful experience with hers. One was lost in a heated debate with Lord Anthony, and the majority of the second fell victim to Miss Hyacinth’s enthusiastic, albeit misguided, suckling. Only a small portion remains. This author maintains, quite firmly, that Miss Sophie is beautiful as ever, and that wattles are, frankly, overrated. Character outranks accessories in this ton.
A Note From This Author on the Circumstances of Their Arrival:
The truth, dear readers, is that Nature is not always a gentle hostess. Their esteemed mother, Lady Georgina, was beset by illness following the birth that left her gravely unwell. Through no fault of her own, nor anyone’s, she was unable to provide sufficient milk for her considerable brood.
She is, and remains, an excellent mother in every way that matters. She is recovered now and watches over her children with tenderness, though the majority of nursing duties for this litter has fallen to the staff. And what a task it has been. Lady Georgina’s attendants confess to being exquisitely worn down following this season's events.
As piglets cannot be safely bottle-fed lest they aspirate, these seven are being reared on careful syringe and pan feedings every 90 minutes, night and day. This author wishes to extend the highest commendation to our most esteemed veterinarian, whose late night attendance and guidance on antibiotics, steroids, and subcutaneous fluids was nothing short of heroic. Round-the-clock care, sleepless nights, and more laundry than this author cares to confess went into their survival.
And yet, despite all efforts, two sweet souls were lost to us. Master Colin and Miss Eloise were taken far too soon. They were spirited, darling creatures who danced through this world but briefly. This author has it on good authority that they are now causing fashionable mischief beyond the veil, and they shall be remembered with every oink and snuffle from their siblings. They knew only love, every moment they were here.
Lady Georgina sends her gratitude to all who have inquired after her family. She asks that callers send notes of well wishes while the family regains its strength.
As for the future of these distinguished heirs, once weaned and deemed ready to grace new pastures, this author anticipates that several shall be available to share their excellent bloodlines and formidable constitutions with select farms of good standing. Interested parties of proper character may send inquiries by post. Discretion, of course, is assured.
It must be said that these heirs come by their fortitude honestly, for they are the progeny of a most illustrious match: their dam, Lady Georgina, a distinguished Reserve Champion, and their sire, the esteemed Lord Levi, a Champion in his own right. With such celebrated parentage, greatness was never in doubt.
The season is brighter for these seven, dear readers. May their trotters be swift, their appetites grand, and their futures filled with mud puddles and mischief.
It is this author’s honor to welcome them to the world. And to remember those who could not stay.
Yours in truth, tenderness, and triumph,
LADY WHISTLEPIG
