🪱🌱 BREAKING NEWS: Bryant Homestead has hired a very small, very quiet workforce. 🌱🪱

We’ve officially adopted a bin of composting worms… and honestly, they’re already better at recycling than most of us. 😄

Their job? Turning kitchen scraps into black gold (aka worm castings), which helps feed our gardens, orchard, and everything we grow for market.

They don’t complain.
They don’t take breaks.
They just eat leftovers and silently improve the soil. Respect. 🪱💚

🥕 What our new worm crew is currently accepting as “paychecks”:

🍎 Fruit and veggie scraps (peels, cores, ends, etc.)
☕ Coffee grounds + paper filters
🍵 Used tea bags (staples removed if possible)
🥚 Crushed egg shells
📦 Shredded cardboard or clean egg cartons
📰 Newspaper or plain paper (no glossy or coated paper)

🚫 Please no meat, dairy, oily foods, heavily seasoned scraps, or large amounts of citrus.

💬 Homestead PSA:

If you ever look at your kitchen scraps and think “this feels like waste”… our worms would like a word with you. 😌

We’re happy to take clean scraps off your hands and turn them into something that helps grow better food right here at Bryant Homestead.

Good morning everyone! ☀️💛

After getting absolutely slammed at the Nauvoo Farmers Market yesterday (thank you all so much! 🥰), we have a lot of restocking and baking to catch up on this morning.

With temperatures already pushing 90° before noon, we’ve decided to give ourselves a little extra time to get everything ready and let some of the hottest part of the day pass.

The Shoppette will open at 3:00 PM today.

The good news is that with our new lights installed, we can now stay open later! 🎉 So we’ll be open from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM this evening.

We’ll have fresh breads, baked goodies, hanging flower baskets, jams, jellies, salsas, and our homestead products available. Cake pops and caramel rolls will be kept inside where it’s cool so they stay delicious and don’t melt into a science experiment 😆

If you hear laughter coming from the bakery this morning, it’s probably me negotiating with myself over “just one more caramel roll” 😅

Today at the Nauvoo Farmers Market we’re bringing something dangerously good: decadent caramel rolls and caramel pecan rolls, slathered in our rich caramel buttercream frosting that basically refuses to be subtle. It’s sweet, silky, and the kind of frosting that makes you rethink your self-control in public places.

And yes… the pecans are real orchard pecans from our backyard. The ones I had to basically stage a covert operation to harvest before the squirrels declared them fully theirs. Let’s just say I lost a few battles, but I won the war 🌰🐿️😆

Soft dough, gooey caramel, buttery frosting, and toasted pecans all coming together like they were meant to cause chaos at 3 PM sharp.

🧁🎉 Keto & Gluten-Free Cake Pops are in the works for today’s market! 🎉🧁

I have to admit, one of the best parts of being the baker is that I get to sample the goods. It’s not snacking—it’s quality control. 😏

As a Type 1 diabetic with Celiac disease, I know how hard it can be to find desserts that are actually delicious without the gluten and without the sugar. I’m happy to report these passed the test! ✅

Moist cake, sweet frosting, and all the dessert goodness you’d expect—just without the gluten and without the sugar.

Now if I can just stop “quality testing” long enough to get them packed for market… 😂

Good morning everyone! 💛

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s the start of another busy week here at Bryant Homestead!

We’ll have fresh products coming out all morning, starting with what our town mayor lovingly refers to as “Our Famous Sourdough” 🤣🥖

The ovens are already hard at work and there will be plenty more goodies making their way out throughout the day as everything cools and gets packaged up fresh.

As always, you’ll also find our jams, jellies, salsas, homestead products, and other homemade favorites stocked in the Shoppette.

After all the kitchen chaos lately, it feels really good to be back into a normal baking rhythm again ❤️
