We offer hands-on, residential farm education focused on food, sustainability and the surrounding ecosystem. The land is our classroom, giving students the greatest opportunity to learn about themselves and their environment.

Looking at the world through the lens of an insect---our students love doing this! As farmers, we try to see from the perspective of the bugs we live and farm alongside. Spring looks pretty special through the eyes of the little guys 🌼

Howdy y’all! 🤠🌾 Farm fauna kicked off bright and early this mornin’, and we got straight to work! From milkin’ goats 🐐🥛 to gatherin’ fresh eggs 🥚 and learnin’ the ropes of takin’ care of these sweet farm critters, it don’t get much better than this kinda country livin’. Can’t wait to see what else is in store! 🤎✨

Students get to try and explore so many new things while they’re here at the Farm! Unique hands-on activities like sifting compost or putting together an irrigation system, to coloring with flowers, there’s a little bit of everything sprinkled throughout their time here!

McDowell Farm School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Coordinator to help organize logistics, schedules, and oversee all aspects of clients’ stay at our educational farm nestled in the Bankhead National Forest in Winston County, Alabama. The McDowell Farm School Program Coordinator is not only an administrator, but also an educator, farmer, and leader.
