Apache is my rescue German shepherd. By the time he was 8 months old, he was on his third owner (me)! His first owner was abusive and he used to be afraid if you raised your hand to pet him. He has a few missing teeth and X-rays that show he had a broken jaw at some point. His first owner was taking him to a kill shelter. His second owner heard about that, took him in as a foster, and he was a military dog trainer. Thankfully, this taught patchy some obedience and love. His foster family was PCS-ing, and we adopted him to keep forever. He is the sweetest, loving, baby and he is absolutely obsessed with me. Wherever I go, there he is. He had a life of trauma that we have worked through with him. He deserve all the love. ❤️ 🐕 Unfortunately, this is a common trend with shepherds. They require owners who have a lot of patience, time, and understanding. They are constantly in the shelters. All we can do is help advocate for them and spay/neuter so we can help stop the overpopulation of shelter dogs. We can also educate those who are looking into this type of breed and offer our support.
