I know our farm page focuses primarily on our flowers but I wanted to share what else has been going on this last month!

It’s been a very busy few weeks. At the end of February, we bought a new guard dog to join our crew. Our two older guard dogs are 10 and almost 7 so we thought it was past time to add a new friend. I also wanted our oldest GP, Penelope, to be able to train the puppy. She’s absolutely a saint with him and tolerates all of his puppy antics. River is not quite as tolerant and frequently puts him in his place. I’ll share a few pictures of our new boy, Onyx. He’s a Great Pyrenees x Anatolian x Maremma cross.

We started kidding season with the goats this past weekend. We’ve had two does freshen and 10 more to go. We had twin boys born Saturday and then a giant single buck kid born today. It was quite the rough delivery today but both mama and baby are doing good! He’s a special one and going to be hard to part with.

Our Fall Dahlia Sale is OPEN!!

I know so many of you have been waiting! I appreciate all the messages! We have been digging and dividing like crazy and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. We are opening our sale to our followers only tonight and then tomorrow afternoon we will open it to the rest of the dahlia groups.

We will start shipping our fall dahlias on November 18th. If you are unsure of your weather, please select the shipping option with the heat pack. We are not responsible for tubers once they have left our care.

All of our dahlias are grown here on our farm and harvested by us. We take many precautions to avoid the spreading of any diseases. Any dahlia plant that looks like it could have a virus is culled and not kept.

As always you are welcome to pick up your dahlias at our farm stand once your order has been packed and is ready for pickup. If you are local and would like to pick up, please pick local pick up at checkout.

💐 DAHLIAS GALORE!! 💐

Our stand is fully stocked with plenty of dahlia bouquets! If you would like a bouquet before the end of the season, I would come this weekend! We are quickly approaching the end of the season and will be digging up dahlia tubers by the end of the month.

Lots of beautiful fall colored bouquets available! Bouquets are $25 each. We accept cash (please put in the box on the wall), credit, or debit card. If paying by credit or debit card, just scan the QR code.

So 99% of this page is handled by my lovely wife Katie, (really 100% other than this one post which I'm sure she'll yell at me when she sees that I borrowed the account to post it!! 🤣🤣)

She always posts the beautiful pictures of our flowers, bouquets, cool stories of tuber harvesting and runs all our online stuff/ FB/ website.

What no one ever sees is the hours upon sweaty hours she spends in the rows with our son Noah.

Together we, no mostly Katie and Noah, w**d, water, tag, label, and catagorize the hundreds of varieties of speciality and rare tubers/ plants that Carved Oak Farm has spent years working and developing different systems to keep our hundreds of variaties separate which has helped us find a way to make a name for ourselves.

Just wanted to post a few pictures I snapped of them in the fields doing what makes them happy.

I'm making it my goal to take the page a few times throughout the fall to show her in all her tediously careful passionate glory!! Wish me luck!! Hopefully she doesn't lock me out!

I know many of you have asked when we would have flowers on the stand. Today is the day!! We have focused more on subscriptions this year and tuber production but I have a few bouquets available today as our dahlias are blooming like crazy right now! So if you’d like a bouquet, please come grab one! First come, first serve!

Bouquets are $25. You can either put cash in the box or scan the QR code and pay with a credit or debit card.

If we sell out and you’d like a bouquet send me a message. I can cut a few more for tomorrow!

Our Dahlia Fields Are Planted!

We've officially planted our dahlia fields for the season! This year, we have 400 dahlia tubers planted! This is almost double what we planted last year! We can’t wait to see all the beautiful flowers growing in a few months.

We'll be highlighting a different dahlia variety from our fields a few times a week. We have over 120 different varieties planted, so there's plenty to share!

Today's Spotlight: 'Strawberry Cream’

Prepare to fall in love with 'Strawberry Cream,' a true gem boasting gorgeous pink and white blooms. Hi Friends!

We have some really good varieties of dahlias left available on our website! There are a few extras that were claimed but never paid for so you may just get lucky. 😁 I’ll feature some of the overlooked varieties that I personally love in the pictures I’m sharing. All of our dahlias have photos on our website. Everything is grown on our farm with an emphasis on disease prevention!

I’ll post list here of what we have available but it is also available on our website. Feel free to either message me your order or place an order on our site. You are welcome to order for spring shipping or pickup (please notate that when you place your order) or if the weather is tolerable in your area we can ship with heat packs in the next week or so. If you order 6+ tubers you get a free heat pack. You are also welcome to pick up now if you are local. We will not have anything else available until after we start waking tubers up in late March/early April. Thanks for supporting our family!

In case you are new here, I wanted to just share a quick intro about us so you know a little bit about who is growing your flowers. We are the Shaffer’s. My name is Katie and I’ve been married to my husband, Jeff, for 17 years. We have two young boys, Noah and Cj. Jeff works off the farm and helps as much as he can especially with the planting. Noah and I are primarily the ones growing and tending the flowers we get to share with you. Growing flowers is definitely a passion of mine. I truly love being able to grow something so beautiful and getting to share it with everyone.
