Double Bar D 2505 is a late-February
2025 born ram who has it all:
great breed character, bone, size, and
a pedigree filled with champions.

His sire is Double Bar D 2202 “DJ”

Good” and his dam is BAA BAA Acres 286

place March ram at Louisville in 2017.

“Leo” was a pen mate of our popular 1st Place Fitted Yr Ram at the 2026 Ohio Showcase Show and Sale at Greenville, Ohio and is built and bred very similar………,

Over the past few years we have not been able to attend many of the shows and sales but the sheep that we have sold privately off the farm have gone on to make their mark in the flocks of so many. We take pride in the type of Hampshires we raise and I’m sure you will not be disappointed
with what you see in our entry.

Be sure to check out our page, Dou-
ble Bar D Hampshires to learn more about
our entry in this year’s sale.

Sun is shining- mud is drying up- finally able to get the sheep out of the barn!

01/30/2026

Just a rant to get off my chest.

Earlier this month I turned in our papers for the USDA wool payment program. As you know, we raise reg Hampshire sheep - frame style which is somewhat larger than the commercial/market style Hampshires. I found out that the govt average weight for Hampshire sheep wool weight is 8-10 lbs. we have some Hampshires that sheer 15-18 lbs (yr ewes/ rams/etc). So our wool weight will be higher than the govt average! and we also shear brood ewes 2 times a year which according to govt sheep are only sheared once a year. Therefore I’m now finding myself fighting the system to justify the wool that I have submitted for the program. Why is the govt putting us breeders through all these headaches just for a
37 cent /lb wool payment. I thought the government was on the side of the producers but my experience now is making me think is it all worth the hassles??????
Thanks for listening to me venting!!!!!
