I am excited to announce that the dragonflies have returned! I look forward to seeing them every year and today there are literally dozens flying around our front yard and goat areas. I feel like cheering them on as they skewer mosquitoes 😆
What is one bug or bird you look forward to seeing each spring? Post pics of your favorite

Comfrey is one of nature’s true workhorses.
It feeds the soil, supports pollinators, boosts compost, nourishes animals and helps gardens thrive naturally. Deep roots mine nutrients from the earth and bring them back to the surface where they can actually do some good.
One plant… endless uses. 💚
We use plants like this to work with nature instead of constantly fighting against it. Every season we’re learning a little more about how powerful natural systems can be when you slow down and pay attention.
Maybe not every w**d is the enemy after all. 🌱
This is exactly why we’re so passionate about sharing beneficial plants, natural farming practices and old-school knowledge here at Kacoki Acres. Because sometimes the answers have been growing under our feet the whole time.
Plant it. Chop it. Mulch it. Compost it. Feed the soil and let the soil feed everything else. 🌾

Despite the heat and mosquitoes we got another pen together in the woods. There's still branches to clean up, but a couple of goats are already enjoying the fresh vegetation and the dog likes the lean-to shelter.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces. It is observed annually on the last Monday of May and serves as a solemn day of national remembrance.Historical OriginsDecoration Day: Originally known as "Decoration Day," the tradition began in the years following the Civil War to honor fallen Union soldiers. It was officially established on May 30, 1868, by General John A. Logan, the leader of an organization of Union veterans.Choosing the Date: May 30 was specifically chosen because it wasn't the anniversary of any particular battle, and it allowed for spring flowers to be in full bloom to decorate the graves of the fallen.Evolution of the Holiday: After World War I, the holiday evolved to commemorate all American military personnel who have died in any of the nation's conflicts, rather than just those from the Civil War.

Early this month I collected eggs from the duck yard and set them in the incubator, counting the days until I would see what interesting pairings are happening with my barnyard mix of ducks...on Friday I heard peeping....it's only been 21 days. Somehow I set a very large chicken egg alongside 11 duck eggs. 🤔🙄
