Beekeeper Tip of the Day

If you haven't already, register your hives at Bee Watch. Commercial spray applicators check this website to make sure there are no hives in the area they are to spray.

It's also good practice to talk to anyone who may spray close to the apiary. Many farmers don't know that we can lock the bees in the hives overnight. Communication is key to keeping your bees healthy and working safely with farmers in your area.

How are your hives doing?

Have you checked them?

Some of the bigger nucs that have had really good foraging areas and feed are already needing a second box.

We recommend adding a second box when 8 of your 10 frames in the first box are drawn.

Be sure to strap your hives or at least have weight on the lids before this next round of storms arrive.

A tip from the mom of DAM Enterprises.

Coffee sacks can be purchased from Road Coffee in Independence, KS for $5. They make a great nuc sack and then can be used as fuel for your smoker.

These bees are tucked in safely next to the air conditioner vent set on low and there isn't a bee flying in the car.

Congratulations to the M of DAM Enterprises on receiving his associates degree from Redlands Community College yesterday!

If you have wondered why some messages have taken a little longer to get responses, this might explain it.

He's been selling Nucs to help pay for tuition for next year. I you are still looking for a nuc, he has quite a few getting picked up today and tomorrow, but has a few left with bees that are looking for flowers to collect nectar.
