Well…would you look at this?! Last Saturday we had a surprise arrival on the farm. This little lady arrived two weeks early. She is tiny, but mighty and is keeping up with mom just fine.

This exactly how we raise our goats. They are extremely parasite resistant because of the breeding and culling we have done. We have learned which breeds are hardiest and avoid those that aren’t. The vast majority of our goats have been born and raised on our farm out of stock that has needed minimal deworming. Your animals should work for you, you shouldn’t have to constantly fight to keep them alive.

Before modern dewormers...

Farmers still raised goats.

Some goats lived.

Some didn't.

The survivors became tomorrow's breeding stock.

Then chemical dewormers arrived.

Millions of goats were saved.

That was a wonderful thing.

But over time...

Many of us also stopped letting nature tell us which animals were naturally resistant.

Today we're dealing with two kinds of resistance.

Goats that need to become more resistant...
..and worms that already have.

Maybe the future isn't about finding a stronger dewormer.

Maybe it's about raising stronger goats again.

For consideration. Bred, born and raised 16 month old high % Texmaster Buck. He has really taken off this spring and summer with very little grain input. He hasn’t been wormed, only cd&t and copper bolus. We did use him to clean up last fall and he bred our last couple does just fine. Nothing wrong with him at all, he is just related to our yearling does and this years doelings which we plan to retain. Nice thick made crossbred high % Texmaster/Spanish buck. Located in Neosho, Mo. Message for more information.

We put the bull in this week as clean up on the cows we AI’d and to breed our son’s longhorn.

New life on the farm isn’t just the livestock.

M15F has been a great start to our breeding program. We have been super pleased with his calves so far. With our small herd, we finally got ourselves organized to ai this year. But that doesn’t take away from the quality of a bull he is. Definitely happy to have him in our arsenal as our clean up bull. Don’t forget to follow us and give us a share.

Sometimes moving goats to a new pasture involves some free time in the yard. I was really hoping one of the babies would try out the trampoline, but they decided against it.

The goat kids are figuring the creep feeder out. Our goal is to allow the mommas to keep their condition while raising these kids by supplementing the kids. It also allows the kids to not have to compete against the big does for feed. Give us a like and follow.

Clipping pastures and cleaning up down trees sure makes these hills and valleys look pretty. Don’t forget to give us a follow
