Hi there, thought I would share a photo from last night from Telderer's Rainbows End Farm in Neosho, Wisconsin! ☕🐑

As I was feeding the Icelandic sheep this morning, I realized Father's Day is almost here.

Farming has a way of making you appreciate the people who taught you how to work hard, solve problems, and keep going even when things don't go as planned.

The sheep still need care every day, rain or shine. That's a lot like the dads, grandpas, and father figures who quietly show up for their families year after year.

Here on the farm, I'm grateful for the lessons that get passed from one generation to the next—whether it's caring for animals, respecting the land, or simply doing the right thing when no one is watching.

Feel free to share one lesson your dad taught you that you still use today?

Every Icelandic fleece tells a slightly different story.

Some sheep grow soft cloud-like fleece.
Some grow dramatic windswept locks that belong in a Viking movie.
And some somehow manage both at once.

That natural variation is exactly why fiber artists love raw fleece.

No two are ever identical.

We raise Icelandic sheep here in Neosho, Wisconsin and every fleece from our flock is photographed individually so people can choose the exact texture and character that inspires them.

Living in Wisconsin teaches you important survival skills.

One of them is:
Never underestimate the emotional importance of warm feet.

Good wool socks can improve your entire attitude toward winter.

Icelandic wool is naturally insulating, breathable, moisture wicking, and durable which is why wool has survived thousands of years of human history while synthetic fabrics keep reinventing themselves every six months.

The sheep figured this out long ago.

We continue raising Icelandic sheep here in Neosho, Wisconsin with a focus on sustainable farming and heritage fiber production.

One thing I love about roving is that it still feels connected to the sheep.

You can still see the texture.
Still feel the loft.
Still recognize that this started with real animals on real pasture.

Icelandic wool is especially loved by hand spinners because the fiber has both softness and strength naturally built into it.

Some people spin the undercoat separately.
Some blend the fibers together.
And some start spinning with a plan and end up making wildly textured art yarn because the wool had other ideas.

Honestly, the sheep usually win.

There are two separate hobbies in the fiber world.

Actually knitting.
And collecting yarn while confidently believing you will someday have unlimited free time.

I participate in both.

One of the reasons people love Icelandic wool yarn is because it creates warm, lightweight garments that hold up beautifully over time.

The fiber has loft, durability, and incredible insulation thanks to the unique dual-coated fleece Icelandic sheep naturally grow.

We raise our Icelandic sheep here in Neosho, Wisconsin with a strong focus on sustainable farming and healthy pasture management.

Hello June from our little farm in Neosho, Wisconsin.

The pasture is green, the sheep are happy, and somehow there is still wool absolutely everywhere even though shearing season is technically over.

One thing I love about raising Icelandic sheep is how versatile their wool is.

Some fleeces become yarn.
Some become roving.
Some become sheepskins.
Some become socks.
And some become giant piles of “I’ll organize this tomorrow.”

Icelandic wool is naturally warm, breathable, durable, and full of character because the sheep grow both a soft undercoat and a longer protective outer coat.

That dual-coated fleece is part of what makes it so loved by spinners, knitters, felters, and fiber artists.

Icelandic wool is one of those fibers that rewards curiosity.

You can separate the tog and thel.
Blend them together.
Spin airy yarn.
Spin durable yarn.
Create textured art yarn.
Or spend two hours examining lock structure while pretending you’re being productive.

No judgment here.
We’ve all done it.

Several fleeces from our flock in Neosho, Wisconsin are currently available and each one has been photographed individually so you can really study the texture and character before choosing.

One thing I love about real sheepskins is that they somehow make every room feel warmer before you even touch them.

Real wool has texture.
Depth.
Movement.
Character.

And unlike synthetic decor, no two are ever exactly alike.

Our Icelandic sheepskins come from sheep raised on our small farm in Neosho, Wisconsin and each one carries its own natural beauty and variation.

Some are soft and elegant.
Some are beautifully rustic.
Some look like they should be living in a cozy cabin somewhere in Iceland.

There’s something deeply satisfying about yarn that started with actual sheep living on actual pasture.

You can feel the difference.

Mass-produced yarn often feels disconnected from where it came from.
Farm yarn still carries the story.

The pasture.
The season.
The sheep.
The weather.
The lanolin.
The work.

That connection matters to me.

We raise Icelandic sheep here in Neosho, Wisconsin and continue focusing on sustainable farming, healthy animals, and preserving heritage wool breeds.

Several wool products are currently available including yarn, fleeces, wool socks, and sheepskins.
