I love getting updates on Sadie's last litter. Lady initially struggled with being a puppy & having only chickens to bond with. She now has goats and has bonded beautifully. This is her new BFF. Having the goats is really helping her mature into her guardian instincts.

It is so important to continue the training after you have purchased your CMDR puppy. Their instincts are great & Momma started them on the right path but they are still young and need guidance.

Friday's LGD Fact or Fiction - This week's FACT is "LGDs need training just like any dog." While LGDs have an innate protective instinct, they must learn to differentiate between real threats and harmless animals. Don’t just toss LGDs in with livestock before receiving proper training.

Additionally, LGDs must learn to work with their human handlers. Without proper training, LGDs can become aggressive toward harmless animals or people, which could result in harm to those around them. Additionally, they may be unable to effectively protect livestock from real predators if they don’t know how to work with their handlers.

Drax (Previously Alexander the Great) is growing up into a fine guardian. His owners report no one enters the property without his knowledge & approval. He is still learning that some things are off limits (like the butter) but overall is a great pup. He is 6 months old and over 80 pounds!! He is happy, spoiled & very loved in his forever home. We love getting updates on our pups!!!

It takes time & patience but is worth the work to have your CMDR guard your flock!

Chickens can be exciting—but they’re also fragile. Start your LGD pup with short, calm visits and stay close to guide their reactions. Supervision now prevents problems later! đŸŸ

Hela is serious about truly understanding the goats she is to protect, even playing with their toysđŸ€Ł. So happy to see our pups adjusting to their new farms.

Hela must be taking notes from the goats.
