There are eggs available in the store on a first come first serve basis. Help yourself. $4 per dozen. They really are the best. Pastured hens on fresh forage every day doing what they do best. Delicious and nutritious.

“Will you have eggs tomorrow?”

I checked when I got home from work, and Mom said she restocked the fridge with fresh eggs this afternoon.

You’re welcome to swing by and pick some up.

Have a great weekend! 🍳

Dad and Eli sent this video up from the back forty tonight. The pigs are happy to be moved into their new pen. They’ll stay in here for a few weeks and then move on to another one. ☀️ 🐖

Is there anything better than grandbabies wanting to spend time with you?

“Can I go help Pop with the chickens?” Sophie asked her mom when Dad made it home from work.

Her Mom consented, and the girls joined Dad and I in the field to gather eggs and move the hens to fresh grass.

Sophie and Sylia are slowly getting over their fear of chickens- a fear they definitely do not show toward the new kittens in our barn. 🐈‍⬛

When I picked up one of our lavender orpingtons for Sophie to pet, I asked her what we should name her. Sophie said, “Whitey.”

The chicken is purplish grey. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t always understand how their little minds work, but I love how their little minds work.

The girls decided to come on over after chores while I washed the eggs and waited for their mom to come and get them.

We’ll add these cartons to the fridge in the morning, and the eggs will be restocked for your family.

Stop by and get some. You might even want to bring your grandbabies along.

We added a new hive to the farm last night from (10/10 recommend them).

This is the first hive back at our home farm which means this hive is within walking distance to the house. My morning tea walks will never be the same. ☕️ ☀️☺️

I’ll be adding a bottom board later today, and then transferring the bees into their new home. 🐝

I suppose this is what God intended pasture to look like- waist high and wild.

Our good friend and steward opened up his native prairie to us recently- with the agreement that we fence it and haul water to it.

Grazing someone’s land they’ve spent most of their life developing is humbling.

Our goal is to respect the conservation efforts put in place here. We’ll move cattle across in strips without back grazing to allow the native forages to recover.

Eli and Dad spent the last few weekends clearing brush and driving posts. Today we stretched one and a half miles of fence and came up around 500 feet short. We’ll finish it out before we bring cattle in next weekend.

Like the bison of centuries past, our cows will simply add to the diversity of the bees and the butterflies.

It’s a beautiful symbiotic relationship we are thankful to be a part of, and I’m not going to lie, I’m excited to get to explore and enjoy the native birds and wildlife. 📸 🦋

Working I’m on my feet for eight hours a day, and so it’s important that I fuel my day similar to when I was working full time here at the farm.

It reminds me of a conversation I enjoyed with a friend a few months ago. He said if he doesn’t eat eggs for breakfast, he deals with terrible afternoon slump later in the day.

I can definitely tell a difference in my energy levels based on how I start my morning. It’s worth that extra ten to fifteen minutes to get off to the right start.

This morning I scrambled two eggs with fresh steamed broccoli from our garden, ham from our pastures, and a little bit of sharp cheddar cheese.

I topped it off with a glass of fresh milk from our family milk cow Wassail and some tea with honey from our bees.

With a little scripture writing, I’m ready for the day. ☀️ 🍳

How are you fueling your morning?

The Story of Creamy Hills

Herd sire magazines scattered across the bed, milk parlor pump over jars exploding over with creamy goodness, hundreds of years of agricultural heritage backing his ten-year-old little self- Jason knew then and there- when he grew up, he was going to be a farmer, but not just any farmer. Jason was going to be a dairy farmer.

After writing into every herd registry in the country and devouring the countless catalogs and articles sent to him, Jason began moving onto more substantial literature as his farming library grew and his agricultural knowledge and experience expanded.

Spending every summer at the family farm in Gerald, MO, Jason grew up dreaming of the day he would own a farm of his own. A marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sarah, a few years of college football, and two little blue-eyed girls put that dream on hold; however, it wasn’t long before the dairy desire began growing again, and his loving, supportive wife allowed him to make that dream a reality.
