This class is a little different—and one I’ve been wanting to teach for a long time.
Learning how to truly build a soup changed the way I cook. Instead of starting with a recipe and following it step by step, I learned to understand what was happening in the pot—how a handful of herbs, the right vegetables and aromatics, a little fat, heat and time can create layers of deep, beautiful flavor.
That understanding gave me so much more confidence in the kitchen. I stopped thinking, “What soup recipe should I make?” and started thinking, “What do I have, and what can I build from it?”
That’s exactly what I want to share in The Art of Building Soup. Inspired by classic French cooking and the techniques I’ve learned from studying Julia Child, we’ll slow down and explore the foundations—herbs, vegetables, spices, aromatics, roasting, stocks and finishing techniques—so you understand not just what to add, but why you’re adding it.
And, of course, because no pot of soup should be lonely, we’ll make warm, rustic biscuits from scratch to go alongside it.
My hope is that you leave this class with something much more valuable than a recipe: the confidence to walk into your kitchen, look at what you have, and know how to turn it into something delicious.
