Fungi ARE amazing!

It's been quite dry in our area. But soon rains will come. Any good finds in your area?

These pics are from years past, still good though!

These are always the first fungi to appear in the Ithaca forests - scarlet elf cup, made their debut April 11 at the Mulholland Wildflower Preserve, Ithaca, NY.

Apparently they are edible, or if you saved some for Halloween, they're the exact color and texture of those red waxy lips....beautiful.

Chicken of the woods, on eucalyptus, Bay Area. It sure smells different than the ones in New York! Strong smell - no urge to cook it up or eat it, nope! Beautiful though. And some small white guys growing near bamboo.

So much rain! I found one single small yellow morel on the side of a path near the South Hill recway trail, in the forest.

Can't wait to see what the rain will bring! Enjoy getting out in the forest!
