Taking interest in ducklings and chicks! Looking at incubating a mixed batch of both! Availability would be end of May. Located in Nevada City, CA 95959.

Ducklings 🦆 will be from my Indian Runners of assorted colors, ranging from blues, fawns, chocolates, black or any with varying white. Eggs are large - white to blue in hue. Completely flightless breed (but can get a few feet off the ground for short sprints). Not overly affectionate but are fun to watch, and great from herding training. Mine co-exist with our chickens without issue to! 15/each, discounts on 4 or more. They will be ready to go 48-72 hours post hatch.

Chicks 🐥 will be from my mixed flock. Bantam or bantam mixed chicks. The Rooster is a quality bred blue satin bantam. My hens are mixed silkie or BCM bantams, Buff or Chocolate Orpingtons, Starlight Green Eggers, and Ameraucanas. Eggs laid from this cross would be small-medium creams and light blues/greens. Previous chicks from the cross have wonderful personalities and incredibly sweet/not flighty. They will be 4/each and ready to go 48-72 hours post hatch.

***NO HOLDS - pay at choosing and/or pickup time***

Understanding Littermate Syndrome in Puppies

Bringing home two puppies from the same litter might seem like a great idea—they’ll have built-in companionship, right? However, many dog owners are unaware of the challenges that come with Littermate Syndrome, a behavioral condition that can develop when sibling puppies are raised together.

What is Littermate Syndrome?

Littermate Syndrome is a set of behavioral issues that arise when two puppies from the same litter (or even unrelated puppies of the same age) are raised together. These issues often stem from excessive bonding between the puppies, making it difficult for them to develop independence and proper social skills.

Signs of Littermate Syndrome:

Severe Separation Anxiety: Puppies become highly distressed when separated, making training and socialization more difficult.

Fearfulness: They may become overly reliant on each other, leading to increased anxiety in new situations or around unfamiliar dogs and people.

Difficulty in Training: Since they focus more on each other than their human, training sessions can become ineffective.

Inter-Puppy Aggression: As they grow, fights between littermates can become more intense, sometimes escalating into serious conflicts.

How to Prevent Littermate Syndrome

If you’re raising two puppies together, consider these steps to ensure they grow into well-adjusted, independent dogs:

Separate Training Sessions: Train each puppy individually to ensure they learn to focus on you rather than each other.

Encourage Independence: Allow them to spend time apart daily so they learn to be comfortable alone.

Socialization: Expose each puppy to different people, dogs, and environments separately.

Individual Bonding: Spend one-on-one time with each puppy to strengthen your personal relationship with them.

Should You Get Two Puppies?

While raising two puppies is possible, it requires significant effort and commitment. If you’re considering adopting littermates, be prepared to implement structured training and socialization strategies to prevent Littermate Syndrome.

By understanding and addressing Littermate Syndrome early, you can help your puppies grow into happy, confident, and independent dogs!

Crimson is the lighter one of the two. Both have laid 4-6 large speckled eggs per week last year but have not yet begun to lay this year.

PSA: DONT ORDER CHICKS YET! The countless posts I’ve seen of dead chicks at the post office is alarming. It’s much much too cold to ship chicks, ducklings, baby anything! Wait a few more months or pickup personally. BUY LOCAL. Support your local farmers, not commercial companies! So many deceased babies for no good reason. The hatcheries are just issuing refunds for the deaths, and then putting those people on a list who received dead birds and WILL NOT ship you anymore. So no replacements or refunds. USPS is soo behind with orders some poor babies don’t even get to their destinations for days, some being shipped without heat packs too. Again, DONT ORDER CHICKS YET! ITS TOO COLD. 🐣 🐥 🥚

We here at Fox Crest will never ship any of our chicks/ducklings/poults. Pickup only. We will ship eggs though!
