I desired more magic in my mundane, sisterhood and a place to hold and speak the bigger dreams and visions I held.

Turns out a lot of us want the same.

Let's honor our deepest desires and see what unfolds.

A few captures from the last week.
On cacao pilgrimmage with in Talamanca on the border of Panama.
So much beauty and magic. So much unabashed joy in a shared reverence for this wise abuela plant medicine.
Meeting with bribri elders and way showers whose every life transition is held with cacao by their side.
Birth, menarche, union, death.

Meeting ancient criollo trees. Sleeping within the groves. Wild storms. The Caribbean sea. The epic Terire river. So much deep belly laughter. Cacao, siempre porque no?

During lockdown I took part in this beautiful project with local photographer where she photographed 38 mothers behind glass. She came and we communicated through the window and took some amazing photos of mothers with their children.
It marks such a strange passage of time and one that marked my postpartum time with such a profound feeling of separation.
The exhibition just took place in Nevada City.
Sad to miss it but excited to either get a print or photo book to mark the occasion.

The things that make you feel safe are valid. Whether you see them as particularly 'awakened' or more mundane.
It's important, especially as a womb holder to be able to move towards safety in times of stress. The stress isn't helping you grow or making you stronger.

Only one set of hormones can proliferate in the body. Stress or s*x hormones. One makes you wired, anxious, prone to lash out. The other, if you are cycling puts you on an ebb and flow journey of outward expression and inner expression. Feeling safe tells your body it is safe to potentially have a baby. So ovulation occurs. With this energy every month you get to create and birth something. So the first half of the cycle you are visioning it and taking steps to initiate. Then, if you didn't get physically pregnant, you get the release of progesterone, the cosy hormone. A time to complete, wrap up loose ends, and focus on the inner shift required to birth what you visioned. What a beautiful dance. And with a simple framework that holds this rhythm front and center, life becomes soooo much more easeful.

So moving towards safety is a natural urge, one to get back into this ebb and flow creation cycle.
And I know I'd rather be there then the cortisol train crash I see so normalized in western society, propped up by caffeine and media addiction.

Comment 'map' and I'll send you my free mother's mood map to help you build a cyclical framework of your own.

Hey loves, if you’re new here, I’m Samantha- mother, postpartum Ayurvedic doula & creatrix of Emerging Wisdom Cacao.

I was "Sam" for many years, but I was re-baptized in the salty spray crashing over black lava rock on the Big Island. I traveled there over two oceans and many boats, a journey of 2 years across land and sea, sleeping much of the time on the bare earth.

During this time, I discovered the Wild Woman archetype.

The one with dirt under her nails and ochre on her cheek. The one who howls at the moon and barks at curious coyotes. The one whose eyes dance with flames even when the fire is out. The one who doesn’t name the plants, but communes with them as allies. The one who free bleeds on the earth and watches as the earth drinks it up.

Other characters have emerged since, but she—the wild, feral one—is my foundation. What my blood remembers.

She is who becomes depleted when I spend too much time in the hustle, when the mundane takes over, when I forget where I belong. But she is restored when I tend to my being as cyclical. When I sink in with my back to a tree, letting my soles find bare soil. When I turn inward with only the backdrop of breeze and bird song.

How do you translate that to this world of dopamine chase and thumb swipes?

I know the transmissions I offer are valuable but they are not the 'thing'. To feel alive and awake, we need deep nature connection—the inner and the outer. I can speak to that here, but you are the one who has to open the door. (Hint: It won't while you’re scrolling on the gram!). This has to be lived!

If you are a womb-holder, you hold the keys between your legs. As a cyclical being, you hold the essence of nature and literal creation within you.

I create cacao blends using Ayurvedic spices, adaptogens, and mushrooms—one for each phase of the menstrual cycle. To use them effectively, you have to know where you are. When you track, you tune in. When you tune in, you discover your deep magic.

This is my mission: to get you to tune IN. To pull back from societal expectations and sink into that deep inner well.

If you want to sink in with me and like hearted, feral natured women comment WILD to keep connected.

Some lunches the last few days...
This was all over my ovulatory peak and the thing with this time frame to take into account is that you don't feel as hungry. Which can be great but also if you are eating low nutrient dense food to fill you up. Your body tells you it's full but you have yet to really feed your nutrient needs. So focus on high nutrient dense foods. Lean protein. Lots of fresh raw veggies (one of the main times I actually eat a ton more raw food is over ovulation).
I love grinding up seeds and sprinkling over everything for added protein and I like to stick to sesame and sunflower until I slink into luteal where I switch up to pumpkin and linseed.
I also am in love with this black tahini which also goes on everything - those sesame seeds again which are like a wonder food for women- high in iron, manganese, zinc, calcium, b vitamins.... And of course those healthy fats that are key for our blood sugar balance.

These are all super quick to make and my son loves it all too ... We eat the same, always have. No weird kid food here

Which one looks yum to you?

Last week's farm basket was abundant on a whole new level.
So grateful for fresh, organic produce fresh from the land right where we live.
It takes a lot of effort to grow all these greens out here in the tropics, we even got carrots for the first time ever! And a coconut!!

What a dream!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!

This was really fun... Calling in more of this.
I share some of my wayward journey towards what I'm doing now with cacao and cycle syncing and speak to how beneficial this medicine is for womb holders.

I can't link here but let me know if you want to give it a listen and I will send it to you. Or search wherever you get your podcasts.

is a wonderful resource for all women who feel the call to reconnect to their body wisdom and do the work of deep listening required to shift from seeing symptoms being something to fix to something that is asking for our curiosity and embodied awareness. She also teaches on herbal contraception and tracking so it's all very aligned and resonate to what I do here.

A morning of planting with the residents of . The old mandala garden needed clearing of invasive grass and then we planted it up with natives and pollinator attracting plants for the bees and butterflies. We amend the soil and mulch to conserve water.

Every Saturday there's a planting party here in Alegria and I look forward to taking part in more.

It takes a village!
