It’s bottle calf season!! 🎉

We’re so proud of Michael’s godson, Colton! He showed Dolly this past weekend at the Jones County fair and won reserve in the Kiddie Beef show! We had actually purchased Dolly’s great grandmother from Colton’s dad years ago to add to our herd. How fun they got Dolly to bring it full circle! Way to go Colton! Show off that hard earned belt buckle! 😃

We LOVE an organized freezer!

In February, we had a steer get stuck down and after helping him recover a month later ended up with a health issue that led him to an early locker date. It took turning on the back up freezer for all the bones (you know, to can some beef stock) but we got the main freezer fully stocked just in time for grilling season. Michael’s excited for the 1/3 lb patties and Ashley’s favorite for grilling are the skinless all beef cheddar jalapeño brats. A newer offering from Story City Locker is the rendered beef tallow! We’re excited to make some tallow cream with this.🤩

We’ve had quite a few new customers reach out rather early this year! Let us know if you want on our schedule! Dates start in August and run through January!🥩

Here we go!!! 🎉

Calving season kicked off yesterday for us with a healthy set of twin bull calves out of Donna and a little heifer calf out of one of our retained heifers. Donna’s a rock star and seems to be taking both of her babies!🤞🏼We have quite a few due through Monday and with the weather coming through tomorrow, I imagine we’ll see some more cuteness on the farm in the next few days! What a beautiful day to have some babies! ☀️🐮

This is what half a beef looks like from a local farmer! 244 lbs of delicious locally raised beef! Our freezer was looking pretty BARE, so I'm excited to restock!

We don't have enough space or pasture on our small homestead to raise beef without some serious outside inputs so it's great ppl like Double M Angus s do such a great job!

In all seriousness we’re grateful fire crews got this fast spreading fire contained as quickly as they did. And all the offers for help if it came down to it. We’re reminded over an over again this year we have the best community supporting us in this crazy life!
