Start where a historic downtown department store now pours one of the best cups on this side of the river. Regulars swear by the Café Miel, made with espresso, milk, honey and cinnamon, which is basically October in a mug.

🍺 Afternoon: Floyd County Brewing Co.
Grab a late lunch and a pint at New Albany's medieval brewpub on Main Street, home of house-brewed b**r, hearty pub fare and a Monty Python streak a mile wide. A few changes are coming under new ownership of Upland Brewing, so watch for updates from them. 👀

🍷 Evening: Board and You Bistro & W**e Bar
Wind down on Pearl Street with small plates, a curated w**e list and handcrafted cocktails. Yes, the charcuterie that made them famous is on the menu too. Meet the owner, Megan, who's been building one of downtown's coziest date-night spots. 📸

This week's lineup takes you from outer space to Spring Street to the best margarita flight in town. Here's your perfect downtown day:

🚀 Lunch at Lady Tron’s (147 E. Market St.)
Ten seats, one 1956 steel diner, and a whole galaxy of sci-fi art. The sandwiches are named after sci-fi legends (Ripley, Scully, Uhura, Leia), and the soups hit different once the weather cools off. It's a lunch-only spot, so plan to go early. You won't regret it.

🛋️ Browse at Madhouse (151 E. Spring St.)
Amanda Book's shop is where you go for the gift nobody else would think of: home décor, quirky finds and pieces that make your place feel like you. Holiday shopping starts sooner than you think. Consider this your head start.

👗 Shop Dress & Dwell (138 E. Spring St.)
Right across the street, this downtown staple has been dressing New Albany (and its living rooms) since 2011. Women's clothing, accessories, handbags and home goods: good things for you and your home.

💀 Dinner at La Catrina (202 E. Elm St.)
End the day with shareable plates, street tacos (get them dressed, or "naked" and top them yourself) and cocktails made with house-made mixers. With Día de los Mu***os around the corner, there's no better time to visit the restaurant named after its most iconic figure.

🦞 MEET THE TRUCK: Cousins Fried Seafood 🍤

You probably know Cousins Maine Lobster, the truck that started in Los Angeles in 2011 and grew to 100 trucks across the country. Meet its sister: Cousins Fried Seafood.

It opened this past May right across the river in Louisville, and it's the only one of its kind anywhere. So far. 👀

This is the good stuff from a New England fish shack: fried haddock, shrimp, lobster tail, scallops, and real Maine whole belly clams. Everything is hand-breaded right on the truck and comes with fries, cole slaw, and two homemade sauces.

Can't decide? Go for the crowd favorite, the Fisherman's Platter. Or grab the fish sandwich, Sabin's Way. 🐟

🍽️ NEW ALBANY NEIGHBORS: Market Street Edition 🍽️

Louisville gets all the foodie buzz, and it's earned it. But hop across the bridge and take a stroll down Market Street, because in just four blocks, New Albany is serving up a lineup that can hang with anybody's. 👀

🥩 Brooklyn and The Butcher: one of the best steakhouses in the region, full stop
✨ The Fair: a brand-new upscale dining experience worth dressing up for
🍺 The Tavern: classic pub fare done right
🍕 Parlour: piping hot pizzas straight from the oven
🐉 Dragon King’s Daughter: Japanese fusion with a flavor all its own
🍦 Sweet B’s: and because there's always room for dessert … ice cream to close out the night

Steak, sushi, pizza, pub grub and a scoop to go, all within walking distance. That's a Tuesday in New Albany.

🚚 MEET THE TRUCK: Philly Phixens

Doris “Kelly” Bynum was born and raised in Philadelphia, home of the cheesesteak and the hoagie, and she learned to cook by watching her mom. She took those skills into the military, where her place became the spot for her brothers and sisters in arms to gather, eat and fellowship.

After moving to Louisville to be close to her kids, Kelly couldn't find a cheesesteak that tasted like home. So she made her own. Philly Phixens serves authentic Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies: real-deal meat and rolls, plus Kelly's secret marinade that makes every bite burst with flavor. 💛

Kelly launched in 2022 with a tent, some tables and her grills. When her trailer was stolen in 2023 with everything in it, she stepped away, then picked it back up after Derby last year. Sixteen months later, she's still on a mission to feed people, body and soul. 🙏

What to order:
🔥 Hot: The Cheesesteak, fully loaded with onions, peppers and mushrooms, topped with mayo and ketchup
🥪 Cold: The Ham & Swiss Hoagie with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and sweet heat peppers
