Yup.

Yup.

THEY TOLD HIM TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP. HE STOOD UP AND SANG LOUDER. He wasn't your typical polished Nashville star with a perfect smile. He was a former oil rig worker. A semi-pro football player. A man who knew the smell of crude oil and the taste of dust better than he knew a red carpet.

When the towers fell on 9/11, while the rest of the world was in shock, Toby Keith got angry. He poured that rage onto paper in 20 minutes. He wrote a battle cry, not a lullaby.

But the "gatekeepers" hated it. They called it too violent. Too aggressive. A famous news anchor even banned him from a national 4th of July special because his lyrics were "too strong" for polite society. They wanted him to tone it down. They wanted him to apologize for his anger. Toby looked them dead in the eye and said: "No."

He didn't write it for the critics in their ivory towers. He wrote it for his father, a veteran who lost an eye serving his country. He wrote it for the boys and girls shipping out to foreign sands.

When he unleashed "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," it didn't just top the charts—it exploded. It became the anthem of a wounded nation. The more the industry tried to silence him, the louder the people sang along.

He spent his career being the "Big Dog Daddy," the man who refused to back down. In a world of carefully curated public images, he was a sledgehammer of truth. He played for the troops in the most dangerous war zones when others were too scared to go. He left this world too soon, but he left us with one final lesson: Never apologize for who you are, and never, ever apologize for loving your country.

John went back to the ER by ambulance yesterday. I've lost track, but I think it is his 4th ER visit in the past 6 weeks (plus a stay in a skilled nursing facility.) The side-effects from chemo have wrecked him so badly that treatment has been paused for at least another 3 weeks. Your continued prayers and support are hugely appreciated!

It is with a heavy heart that we post this. The store is now closed as they deal with John's 3rd fight with cancer.

I go to church because I am loved and forgiven. If that doesn't bless your socks off you're barefooted.

Something to brighten your day.

This is a shot that I didn't intend to capture while chasing the full moon last week, but it's one that I came upon, and I'm sure glad that I did.

I've captured the moon and the Duquesne Incline a handful of times. With the moon above the incline, the moon framed by the incline, the moon sitting on the tracks...all kinds of compositions. But last week that shot wasn't on my list, at least until I drove down Carson Street.

I was heading to Mt. Washington to capture the StarLink satellites (which I never ended up seeing), but saw how low the moon was still in the sky. So I made a quick detour and got into position to capture the moon rising behind the incline.

I knew that getting the detail in the moon would be next to impossible. It had been up for nearly 40 minutes, and was really bright. Coupled with the clouds around it giving it a glow, I just wanted to use that as a backdrop for the car, hopefully with some people inside.

It ended up working out better than I had expected. The settings were challenging; the incline and surrounding areas were almost pitch black, while the moon was so bright. It's not the cleanest image I've ever taken, but I'm glad I was able to walk away with something unique.

Intelligence begins with: I know nothing. Unlearn everything. Then learn three ways to really learn. Experience. Other's experience. Or Divine Revelation. The most. Intelligence you can have is knowing the One who is, was and evermore shall be.
