What an incredible day we had at the Minnesota State Fair. This was Chloe's first year showing fryers at the county level and state level. We learned a ton about our satins and feed/weight management. Thank you to everyone that helped us along the way and answered our fifteen million questions as we got ready for this. Chloe bred three does for the state fair and had twenty three babies to choose from. Huey, Duey, and Luey, were the lucky ones that made the pen for the state fair and they were on their best behavior tonight for the show. We were all super excited when Chloe and her little trio received Reserve Champion Market Pen 🐇

Well this is not a post I thought I'd be making this morning but we have one less little at the hay feeder this morning....

The kids, my mom and I, made the drive out to Round Da Bend Rabbitry this weekend and brought home these two gorgeous havana does! The pictures I took truly don't do them justice, they are absolutely beautiful! Chloe is over the moon excited to show them this fall and to breed them early next year!

If you've been noticing that Snowball has been missing from our regular updates, don't worry, he is still here but has started his yearly molt. Turkeys generally go through a full molt once a year and the process can take around a month from start to finish. Molting is the process of them losing their feathers and replacing them with new ones. This process takes a lot of energy and protein so many birds will become a little sluggish during this time. Not to worry though he will be back to his regular antics in a few weeks 🦃
