It’s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster weekend on the farm. Very early Friday morning, Arwen gave birth 11 days early to 4 beautiful babies. All was well until Saturday afternoon when 2/4 rapidly started going downhill. We did everything in our bag of tricks to save them but unfortunately lost both. At least they were warm, fed, and loved for the short time they were with us. We have two little sweethearts still here, and for their own good they are living in the house for supportive care. We are seeing signs of improvement and these babies have a lot of fight left in them so we are cautiously optimistic. Last picture is the surviving two, a light colored chocolate buckskin boy (standing) and his buckskin sister (laying). ❤️❤️

Having fun with fungi! Making Shiitake and Chicken of the Woods logs with inoculated dowels from North Spore, because mushrooms are delicious! Used Silver Maple, which isn’t a preferred species for Chicken of the Woods but should be fine for the Shiitake, so we shall see what happens.

Running late in the birth announcement department! Galadriel (aka Gigi) had her first baby the other week..a BIG boy! He’s been affectionately named Rocky because, well, just look at him! 😍 Gigi is a fantastic first-time mama. Rocky will likely be available when he’s all done drinking milk🥹

Labor always stinks for our girls, but the results are usually worth it. Merry gave us three beautiful new babies, and good golly are they cute! She’s being a great first-time mama so far!

Sometimes I do things that scare me. Case in point; goat milk Stilton-style cheese. It’s been months in the making but is finally finished. It’s beautiful and delicious (well, if you like strong blue-flavored cheeses)!
