Spring 2027 flowers got started today.

As a flower farmer I am constantly thinking forward to the next season while trying to stay present and bask in the beauty of what’s in bloom.

Allen went to market today with a van full of summer’s finest while I stayed home and started several flats of cold hardy annuals (cool flowers) and more perennials from seed that will overwinter for early spring blooms. Seeded today were:
Larkspur & Delphinium
Sweet William
Buplerum
Feverfew
Campanula
Yarrow
Rudbeckia

Allen is all set up with some gorgeous “fleurs”, the last of our NY maple, and some delicious pasture raised chicken.

Market runs 9-1 and there are only a few left.
Where did the summer go?

Today was National Dog Day.

Personally, I can’t remember a time (other than college years) where I didn’t have a dog and for me, it isn’t home without one! Those of you that follow us know that we recently lost Remi after a battle with DM and poor Ivory was beside herself being alone. For 3 weeks we have had every bit of our patience tested in training our newest team-member, Dahlia. (14 week old Golden Retriever puppy).

Yup, she gets in to everything. If it fits in her mouth, it goes in her mouth which is why she only has supervised walks in the flower fields.

While I am not a professional Veterinarian, we want you to be able to enjoy flowers and keep your pets safe. The ASPCA has much more information, but I wrote this short blog about flowers & pets. Check it out. We always try to have pet safe bouquets available.

Okay Friends….it was delayed a few weeks but…
I FINALLY GOT THE LILLIES DUG

Plants are available for FREE to plant in your home garden. It is a variety or asiatic, oriental & double varieties in pinks, purples & whites.

They have foliage damage but the bulbs are intact. Plant them 4-6” deep. Cut the stems off at the ground after a hard frost and then just wait for them to rebloom next June/July.

Please, do not take my crates. We have provided some plastic bags to use for transport.

Remi and Ivory had been together for 9 years and were tightly bonded. What many of you don’t know is that Allen’s dad (who lives with us) also had a senior dog who passed just a week after Remi, so poor Ivory has been beside herself as the only dog.

While nothing or anyone could ever replace my sweet boy Remi, life has just been too quiet lately. We have been searching for the right dog to become part of our family. We found her.

Today Allen picked up Dahlia. She is a 12 week old Golden Retriever. She still needs a lot of training and socialization but she is so sweet and we love her already. She is exploring and already pouncing and playing with Ivory.

She will be joining us at a few markets to help with her socialization (that and she isn’t ready to be left home alone for 6 hours yet).
