David and the Donut Chronicles, escape to the White Mountains edition. The donuts at Leavitt's Country Bakery are absolutely delicious. We tried a blueberry glazed cake, Boston cream, lemon bar, plain old fashion, chocolate coconut (which made our donut King extremely happy!) and an apple fritter. They were all fresh and yummy, not a clunker in the bunch. The chocolate coconut, which we've discovered has a tendency to be dry at other places, was very moist. The lemon bar was light and had a great lemony tang. The Boston cream (the litmus test for our King) was also fresh and light, a little "doughy" (which I think was more of an indicator of its freshness) and the cream was a good consistency. And we found the perfect, quiet mountain view spot for enjoying! All in all it was a great way to spend a morning.

Much to our Donut King 's chagrin, one cannot live by donuts alone. Luckily we have muffins! On a "Michelle's Muffin Madness" excursion we stopped by The Muffin House Cafe in Natick MA (on our way to visit the famous Walden Pond in Concord MA). They have multiple locations, each one offering the most delicious muffins we've ever had. They are large, very fresh and tasty. The star of the show is their blueberry muffins (being a life long Bay Stater it pains me to say it but I must be honest - these are even better than Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins). We also tried their lemon poppyseed, vanilla raspberry and chocolate chip. All were incredible. If you are even remotely on the area it's definitely worth the drive to check them out.

After getting off to a bit of a rocky start (trouble finding the car rental counter at TF Green airport, challenges trying to figure out how to get the interior dome lights to turn off and our Donut King forgetting to bring his wallet - after working a 12 hour overnight shift) we hit the road and made our way to Glaze Donuts in New Milford New Jersey. We wanted to time our trip to coincide with the weekend to get the weekend only Italian pastry inspired donuts and they did not disappoint! We got the Italian rainbow cookie (which tasted just like a giant Italian rainbow cookie! Caution - a little goes a long way and it was very messy to eat), Napoleon (yup, tasted just like a Napoleon!), cannoli, Hostess cupcake, "New Jersey" cream, strawberry jelly filled, honey glazed and a "better than Entenmann's" - which absolutely lived up to the hype and brought me back to my Brockton High school days where I had these for breakfast many a morning. If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and check out Glaze Donut and have a glazy day!

Apparently signing up for a gym membership on the same day you pre-order out of state donuts for the weekend will trigger a credit card fraud alert.... Who, knew? 😂 Stay tuned for a special road tripping edition of David and the Donut Chronicles......

David and the Donut Chronicles crossover episode - Michelle's Muffin Mania.
I've been thinking about The Muffin House Cafe 's blueberry muffins since we first tried them a few months back. Our favorite donut King was happy to indulge my hankering this morning. These muffins are amazing! We got blueberry, vanilla raspberry, chocolate chip and piña colada. The blueberry is the star of the show, most, fresh, with an abundance of blueberries and not overly sweet. The vanilla raspberry was also fresh and delicious. The chocolate chip was so fresh that the chips were melting just enough to increase the yum factor. We were too full to try the piña colada, but there's always tomorrow!

**David and the Donut Chronicles - Birthday week edition** When asked what he wanted to do this weekend for his birthday, our donut King responded "Well, I think we should go get donuts". The original plan was to take a drive up to the North Shore but with the weather being on the snowy side we decided to stay closer to home.

Although Dave was concerned that we were getting off to a late start and that there "wouldn't be anything left after 8 am", happily he was proven wrong. Not only were the shelves well-stocked but they were bringing out a freshly baked tray with more donuts as we walked in. Dave was happy to see that they had both toasted coconut and chocolate coconut donuts, they also had the rarely found French crueller. We decided to try a French crueller and chocolate topped French crueller, blueberry cake, chocolate coconut, jelly filled and a chocolate frosted Bavarian cream. The donuts were extremely fresh and the French cruellers were a spongy delicious surprise. The chocolate frosting on the Bavarian cream was light and mild, but still tasty. The service was friendly and helpful. The fat-belly score was high at the aptly named Friendly Doughnut.

After a holiday hiatus David and the Donut Chronicles are back and now, thanks to Cindy Ella America, properly outfitted.
Today's adventure brought us to Marshfield to check out the Coffee Shack where we chose to try their honey dipped, chocolate honey dipped, red velvet, honey dipped jelly filled, Boston cream and the elusive chocolate coconut. The donuts were fresh and tasty. The honey dipped ones were not overly sweet (in a good way). The red velvet cake was nice and moist and with a great flavor. The chocolate coconut was just a little on the dry side but the small flakes of shredded coconut were the perfect size - the (donut) King was pleased. Added bonus, they have a nice variety of hot and iced coffee flavors and were happy to oblige the request for a blending of two flavors (dark roast and chocolate mint - yum!). Overall The Coffee Shack is worth checking out and is being added to our summer revisit list. Note please note that it is a small place, there most likely will be a line to get in however it is well staffed and everyone was helpful and friendly. .
