Keeping the gratitude momentum going!šŸ¤

If you know Liz from Brew H2ouse, then you already know how incredible she is, both as a business owner & as a person. If you haven’t been to Brew H2ouse yet, you’re seriously missing out! From the drinks to the atmosphere to the fabulous energy, she’s built something really special that the James City community is so lucky to have & no chain could duplicate.

The day I opened The Daily Dough, customer after customer walked through my doors with a Brew H2ouse cup in hand, telling me that Liz had sent them my way. That kind of support meant the world to a brand new small business owner trying to find her footing.

Over the years, Liz has become so much more than a fellow business owner. She’s become a true friend. She’s listened to me vent when things weren’t going right, celebrated with me when they were, & somehow always managed to be on board with my endless stream of crazy ideas🤪

Owning a small business can be tough, & having people like Liz in your corner makes all the difference. It definitely did for me!

We stopped by yesterday while running errands, & my girls haven’t stopped talking about how good their drinks & snacks were! If you haven’t made your way to Brew H2ouse yet, you’re missing out. It’s one of my favorite spots in James City, & there’s a reason so many people love it.

Thank you, Liz, for supporting me from day one & for being such an amazing friend along the way. Your kindness, encouragement, & willingness to lift up other small businesses have made a bigger impact than you realizešŸ¤

I’ve been wanting to show some love to the small businesses that have supported me throughout this journey, & Brantley's Village Restaurant absolutely deserves a spotlight!

Brantley’s was my very first wholesale account. They took a chance on me & trusted me with something that meant a lot to them & their customers.

After their grandmother, Mrs. Sil, passed away, they asked me to take over making the pies she had become known for. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. Mrs. Sil’s pies were loved, & their customers really missed them. Filling those shoes felt impossible.

But Brantley’s believed in me from day one. We worked together, tested recipes, made adjustments, & through plenty of trial & error, we found our way. Looking back, I’m so grateful they gave me that opportunity because it helped build my confidence & played a huge role in the growth of my business.

We stopped in for dinner last night & of course had to finish with pie. We intended to take pictures, but my girls had other plans & the pie disappeared way too fast!šŸ˜‚

Thank you to everyone at Brantley’s, especially Mark & Daniela, for your trust, encouragement, friendship, & support. You’ve been part of my story & I’ll always be grateful for that.

& yes, I’m still making their pies! So if you’re in the area, go enjoy a great meal, support a wonderful local business, & don’t leave without a slice of pie of chocolate meringue, coconut, or lemon piešŸ¤

Today marks the end of an era. I officially finished cleaning out the bakery.

While it’s bittersweet to close that chapter completely, I’m incredibly grateful for every customer, friend, & supporter who walked through those doors & helped make The Daily Dough what it became.

With that being said, I also want to share that I will no longer be participating in the Havelock Farmers Market moving forward. This wasn’t an easy decision, but after a lot of thought & consideration, it’s the right one for me at this time.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been enjoying something I haven’t had much of in a long time: time. Time with my family, time with my animals, & time to simply be present outside of the bakery. It’s been refreshing, rewarding, & exactly what I needed. I want to keep that momentum going & continue focusing on what matters most.

That doesn’t mean I’m done baking! I can’t wait to share where I’ll be moving to next month & bring my baking to a much larger audience. This next chapter looks a little different, but I’m SO excited for what’s ahead!

Thank you for continuing to support me through every season of this journey. The oven isn’t off forever, it’s just moving to a new kitchenā¤ļø

I know I’ve been a little MIA lately, but it’s for a good reason!

We’ve been busy cleaning out the bakery & getting ready for our next adventure, but we’ve also welcomed these four tiny cuties into our lives over the past week! Both sibling sets were abandoned by their mom, so we’ve been bottle feeding around the clock & making sure they get all the love & care they need.

I’m incredibly grateful that this season has given us the time to slow down & help these babies thrive. If you know me, you know I have a huge soft spot for animals & I’m always trying to rescue one more… or let’s be honest, keep one morešŸ˜‚

These little furballs have definitely been keeping us busy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. The bakery may be changing, but one thing that never will is our love for taking care of those who need it mostšŸ¾ā¤ļø

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some kittens demanding their next bottlešŸ¼

Yesterday was a big day for our sweet Sophia. She officially graduated kindergarten!šŸŽ“

It feels like just yesterday she was starting her very first day, & now she’s heading into first grade with the biggest smile & so much confidence. We are beyond proud of the kind, smart, funny, & loving little girl she’s is.

Sophia, we hope you always keep your big imagination, your sweet heart, & your excitement for learning. The world is lucky to have you in itšŸ¤

So proud of our girl. First grade, here she comes!!

After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to officially close our storefront.

This past year has been one of the most rewarding, exhausting, emotional, & beautiful seasons of my life. Building The Daily Dough from the ground up has taken every ounce of me & while I wouldn’t trade it for the world, working 60+ hours a week has made me realize just how much precious time I’ve been missing with my family. Life is short, & I refuse to miss any more of it.

Until October, I’ll still be keeping The Daily Dough alive & well through the Havelock Farmers Market on Tuesdays, along with select catering orders. I’m incredibly thankful to have found a certified kitchen space that allows me to continue baking for this amazing community while also creating more balance for my family & myself.

This isn’t goodbye forever! I’ve also been given an absolutely incredible opportunity to bring my baking to a much larger audience & I cannot wait to share more about that in the coming weeks.

To every single person who has ordered from me, shared a post, referred a friend, stopped by the bakery, supported me & my family, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines: thank you. Truly. The amount of love this community has poured into The Daily Dough has been overwhelming in the best possible way, & I will carry that gratitude with me forever.

This little bakery changed my life, & so did all of you. Thank you for being part of itšŸ¤
