On June 3, 2026, the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) received confirmation of a detection of New World screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. The best thing that livestock producers and animal owners can do to prevent infestation is to put eyes on their animals as often as possible, remain vigilant by implementing enhanced management practices to avoid creating wounds, and promptly report suspicious wounds.

Stopped by to visit with Savannah and check out her Grand Champion trophy for the ARB breed class. Love how proud she was to show it off and tell me how the show went.

What an eventful and amazing day for Savannah at the Gladewater FFA Alumni Calf Show. She went into Peewee Showmanship with such confidence and ended up having a tug of war match with “Cupcake” but ended up being drug in the ring a little bit and ended up in some cow p**p. However, she got back up, no tears and grabbed Cupcake to finish out her showmanship class. P**p and all!

Then, she went into her ARB class (because cupcake is a Star 5) and won Grand Champion breed over a much older calf!!!! Talk about completely taken by surprise. She was so excited to win her first ever trophy. 🏆 Then she was even more excited to compete in the supreme overall American breed heifer drive. She was literally the youngest in a ring of “big kids” as she called them. She was so proud of herself today. Hayden Kirkpatrick

Each year brings challenges like weather, markets, equipment breakdowns, and more. And 2026 has definitely had its share of obstacles. But being a farmer and rancher takes faith, hope and love. It’s gratitude for the little moments and prayers for a brighter tomorrow.

And we ask a special blessing for those who work the land, care for livestock, and everyone involved in agriculture.

Our favorite handsome guy attended a show in Paris, Tx with his favorite girl, Ruby. He sure has missed while she’s been out to pasture for breeding. He has come along so amazingly. He is turning into a very determined showman. We know he’ll shine bright in the future.

Today a friend, Kaidance, was given the opportunity to show Ruby today at Greenville. She was very confident in the show ring for her first time. Thankful that Wyatt shared his Ruby girl so that Kaidance could some experience under her belt.

A very good friend of ours has a daughter that is finally of age to show her own calf now and we’re glad for her to show one of our Star Five heifers during her first two years. Can’t wait to watch Savannah in the ring this coming show season.
