Grand Maple Farms Grand Maple Farms is a father and son sugaring business nestled in the woods of scenic Central Massac Come see a modern, yet rustic sugar house in operation.

Grand Maple Farms started with 23 taps in 2011 and has grown currently to 900 taps. A 16'x24' sugarhouse was erected in 2012 and houses a 2x8 wood fired evaporator. Nestled in the woods of scenic New Braintree, we are 25 minutes west of Worcester and 25 minutes north of Sturbridge. Tour our facility and learn the sugaring process. We tap 900 Sugar Maple and Red Maple trees on high vacuum. Open weekends in February and March or by appointment. Sales year round. The aroma of a wood fire and boiling syrup will have you back again!

My parents home on Moore Rd. Originally the home of Horacio Moore. I’m guessing this photo was taken in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. The summer kitchen shown to the left was in very poor condition when my parents purchased the home in 1979. I can remember the old rickety steps to the second level. A curious kid would navigate his way and luckily escaped without injury. It was eventually taken down.
Not certain if anyone tapped the maple trees on the property back then?

The unpredictability of sap runs are real. We experienced the same action here in MA. Nearly 48 hours of sap pouring out of the trees. A nightmare and a blessing at the same time. Struggling to keep up with processing and storage, hoping no problems arise. After the big run things settled and the normal decent to terrible sap runs returned. Sugaring can certainly keep you on the edge of your seat!
