We added some new blood to the broodmare band this year. Purchased from a stellar program in the mountains of Colorado, Scarlett brings the popular cross of reining & cowhorse lines to the program. Mamma uses Nix as a dinner plate giving her some crazy cow licks but she’s still cute anyway! Nix is also entering the “molding” phase, where she will identify as aging cheese and shed into a new undercoat color. Doing so in stages of clumps of loose hair, resembling moldy patches 😂 She is shedding black into her blue, I might have missed a name opportunity of calling her Cheese!

If this ain’t the truth 🤣 in the repro world you better have a good relationship with your vet because I see mine 3-4 times a week to ultrasound as late as 10pm 😅 if this weather would just cooperate and this last mare would agree to cycle!

What an amazing opportunity to ride with John Lyons at Equine Affair! The bonus was getting him to sign one of his original horsemanship books that my grandfather purchased years before I came along. I got a chuckle out of presenting this hardback to him, as he said it was over 40 years old 😂
