Wine cap harvest day 🍄
There’s something deeply grounding about stepping out onto the homestead and finding these wine cap mushrooms (Stropharia rugosoannulata) pushing up through the wood chips—quietly doing their unseen work in the soil long before I ever notice them above ground.
Today felt like more than a harvest. It felt like a reminder. A provision. A gift.
I paused in gratitude and prayer, thanking God for what the land produces when it’s tended with patience and care. “Every good gift is from above”—and this little harvest felt like one of those simple, steady mercies.
These mushrooms won’t just be enjoyed fresh in the kitchen. I’ll also be running part of this harvest through the freeze dryer to preserve them as mushroom powder—so the nourishment carries through the seasons, long after this moment in the garden has passed.
