I wasn't going to comment on this publicly, but the continued harassment of my 9-year-old daughter has to stop.
You approached us and asked Remi to be part of your event. We didn't ask you.
Instead of sneaking her in the way you suggested, I did it the right way and emailed New Castle County to ask for permission. That request was approved.
Remi holds a valid Delaware business license and general liability insurance - not because she has to under the lemonade law, but because it lets her buy wholesale and it's the smart thing to do.
A week ago we notified you that we would NOT be attending your event due to your behavior. That should have been the end of it.
It wasn't. You continued to contact us, and then went to the county to have Remi's permission revoked claiming she is "not a child-operated lemonade stand." When asked how they came to that conclusion, they refused to answer. My guess would be the AI generated trailer which made her look like a real business.
I have the text messages and audio from our meeting where we discussed how you wanted to get around county requirements.
Now you're also harassing a 17-year-old girl who helps Remi with her social media, simply because she merged your flyer and Remi's flyer together for a post. You demanded it be removed and it was removed immediately. There is no reason to continue contacting her. If you continue to harass a minor, her parents will be pressing charges.
For anyone confused, Remi operates under Delaware's Lemonade Law - HB 270 (2021). Full text is in the image below. The key part: "A county may not... Enact a law, ordinance, or regulation that prohibits or regulates a stand operated by a child require a license or permit for, or impose a fee, charge, or surcharge on, a stand operated by a child." Myself and mom assist with cutting lemons and running the cash drawer for obvious safety reasons. But it's still operated by a child. That's called being responsible parents.
County parks DO require permits, which is exactly why I asked for permission instead of just setting up illegally like you wanted us to.
We have moved on. We are not attending your event. Leave my 9-year-old and this 17-year-old alone.
To New Castle County: I have no problem with your decision to pull permission - as I told you we were not setting up. However your perception that my daughter's stand is not child-operated is wrong.
