This poem by Christy Boyd says it all.
Today was the solidification that doing what's right & following legitimate leaders with our best interests at heart, has rewarded us with one if the best market days in years! SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!! Back were familiar faces looking for the old time charm of the Original, true Ligonier Farmer’s Market. Proof that bigger is not better. You can only cut a pie in so many pieces when you have too many options to buy. It was never about looking out for the vendors financial well being. It was about boasting how grande the old market was in size and volume. We didn't know what would happen today. We filled our coolers with hope that our hard work would be rewarded. And...it was. Again....SOLD OUT! THANK YOU LIGONIER! THANK YOU WATERSHED! AND THANK YOU ALL WHO STILL LOVE US! ♥️
Down by the Loyalhanna Watershed, under skies bright and blue,
A wonderful market was starting anew.
Now the market of old had forgotten, you see,
That respect for the land is important as can be.
The property mattered, the Watershed too,
But caring and teamwork were sadly too few.
So the old market packed up and wandered away,
Leaving folks wondering what would come next one day.
Then something quite special began to take flight,
Neighbors and businesses said, “Let’s do this right!”
The Watershed joined them, they rolled up their sleeves,
With hope in their hearts and determination to achieve.
They planned and they worked and they dreamed up a way,
To bring back a market for everyone to enjoy today.
And this morning at last, with excitement and cheer,
The new Ligonier Valley Farmers Market officially appeared!
Not one place but two places were bustling with pride,
At the Watershed grounds and Thistledown’s side.
The vendors came smiling, the shoppers came too,
With baskets and wagons and give away bags that flew…
Well, maybe not flew, but they certainly tried,
As children and families gathered outside.
Were there bumps in the road? Why certainly, yes!
No grand opening ever is perfectly blessed.
A sign here, a parking spot there,
A lesson or two floating through the fresh air.
But the wonderful thing that the day helped us see,
Is what happens when people work as a community.
When folks truly care and step up to lend hands,
Amazing things happen across all the lands.
So here’s to the volunteers, businesses, too,
And the Watershed crew who saw this thing through.
To every person who pitched in and gave,
Your effort and teamwork helped a market be saved.
Ligonier, you did it! You should all take a bow.
You planted a seed, and look at it now!
Today was just the beginning—we’ve only just begun,
And with hearts working together, the best is yet to come.
