When you think of what products come from cattle, the list probably goes something like this: milk, cheese, ice cream, steak, hamburger, roast, etc.
But that list is far from complete. Did you know that we can use pretty much everything but the moo?
We are able to use the bones, blood, brain, hair, hooves, skin, fat, manure, milk, meat, horns, and internal organs. Nothing goes to waste.
Anti-aging cream medications, pasta, cake mix, dyes and inks, adhesives, minerals, laboratory research materials, medicines, plastics, plant food, pet food, photo film, shampoo and conditioner, emery boards, lamination, wallpaper, plywood, air filters, brushes, felt, insulation, plaster, textiles, refined sugar, charcoal, fertilizer, glass, cosmetics, nitrogen, phosphorus, instrument strings, tennis racquet strings, hormones, enzymes, chewing gum, candles, detergent, fabric softener, deodorant, shaving cream, perfume, creams and lotions, crayons, paint, oil and lubricants, biodiesel, waterproofing agents, cement, ceramics, chalk, explosives, fireworks, matches, antifreeze, linoleum, and rubber ALL typically contain a by-product from cattle.
Also, think about all the products made from the things I listed above. If you drive a car, odds are a cattle by-product was used to make it or keep it running. Do you have a house? Cattle by-products were used in the building materials. You're probably reading this on your cell phone, tablet, or computer. Guess what? Those also very likely contain a cattle by-product.
Animal agriculture is useful. It not only feeds you, but you use products from it every single day, whether you like it or not.
Thank you farmers and ranchers!
